Message from Gareth Southgate - Dear England

Not sure why you think I'm angry, just stating opinion, calm your cancel culture down. Pretty hypocritical that you complain about my opinion of your opinion. I don't have to accept your opinion unchallenged, it's a messageboard anything you type will be questioned by someone and feel free to question mine, unlike you I won't be offended by that.
Apology accepted 😉

I'd say that record makes him a far better manager.... and that is fact not opinion.
you presented facts, that doesn't make your cocnlusion fact....it's still just opinion.

Robson had a long and illustrious career. But he failed at Fulham, and was hounded and panned by the fans for the vast majority of his England career bar about 3 games in Mexico , one of which we lost. His tactics and choices were questioned after that, "why leave Barnes on the bench", "we would have won if he wasn't negative".

He then got some "gimme" jobs, Porto, Eindhoven, Lisbon you are guaranteed at least second place with those jobs. He did pretty well although not so well at Barca where he was sacked after a year, his second spell at Eindhoven was average and he did a decent job at Newcastle if not spectacular.

He was a very decent manager, had a very decent decade at Ipswich, and a great couple of years at Eindhoven, but he wasn't an unmitigated success. Great guy, obviously and passionate, but tactically limited, and you could definitely say most of his career was built on access to money.

Southgate, has to prove he is better than that, and obviously he a long way to go, but he's got 15-20 years of management in front of him to do it and has proven a great communicator, motivator and tactician already.

If that doesn't make you proud to be English it's either

1. You are dead (check for a pulse)
2. You are Scottish (check to see if your arrse is blue)

Can we vote him as PM please?

Oh and nation's league? Seriously? It's like the Geordies counting the intertoto.
come on man, it's been excellent. Competitive, very competitive because the games are all against similar standard teams, no gimmes. The fact it hasn't got a history is irrelevant, it's now part of the calendar and it shouldn't be taken away from Southgate, because you can be damn sure if he got us relegated to the B league he would be pushed to be sacked by the press and fans.

Who can forget the 3-2 win away to Spain, the comeback revenge over Croatia, and Mount banging in the winner against a classy Belgium. It's given us and Southgate some great results. Get with the times man.

I was just about to reply in a similar way, BoroMart has some interesting and thoughtful opinions but seems to unaware that other opinions are valid even if he disagrees with them.
opinions can be challenged, it's a messageboard, that's what it's for. Everything I type gets challenged by someone pretty much and likewise I challenge others.

Everyone is entitled to opinions, that doesn't make them all 'valid' though, that's different. E.g. Some people have the opinon that the earth is flat, they are entitled to air that, but it has no validity and is challenged. Ditto Konrad's posts :D ;)

One point that was mentioned in the bbc site was what if one player objected to the gesture ( as is their right ) what then. Because it’s not a voluntary act is it no one would dare either not do it or publicly come out and question it.
Like we saw with Brit for instance.

before i am castigated I’m adding this view as this exactly what’s happened in F1 a few drivers refuse to kneel as to them it is disrespectful ( le cleric) for one have made this stand ( so to speak).

The times? No one gives a **** about the nation's league! International football outside of the tournament's is worthless.
It is now a tournament and if we won we would have been biging it up. You sound like a Jawdee saying the Carling Cup doesn't count. We played high quality opposition in competitive football, beat some superb sides and reached the semi-finals.....everything else is just conjecture.

it’s already happened Palace kneel but Zaha doesn’t. I don’t think it’s a problem.

I suppose it’s basically the 3rd most important international competition England can play in. A bit like the League Cup for us, not that important...🤔

Yeah I agree, but I still want us to win it. I enjoyed the nations league if I’m honest. Nothing on the Euros or world cup but still enjoyable and meaningful
