Didn’t lose a single header. Everything flung into the box he dealt with. Proper old-school defender.

Ayling suits a back 5. Gives him a bit of cover as he gets forward and now struggles to get back.

He's had 3 really good games. Playing his way into a 1 year deal? I guess it depends on what system we want to play longterm. I presume it's not 5 at the back. Although we look far better for it.

I wouldn’t say those three were immense. Clarke made some poor decisions at times. Having 3 central defenders definitely made Boro more robust though.
