McNair fry dijksteel

We signed two defenders from blackburn, who conceded the same number as us last year. how were they going to improve the defence? Granted Giles is an excellent addition going forward, but Lenighan hasn't impressed. Dijksteel is the liability at centre back.

It was Lenihan’s best game yes, but it doesn’t alter the fact Fry is our best centre back - it should be Fry, McNair and one other as the three centre half’s imo, these two are unquestionably our best defenders

Diego -- go and look at the first goal Bola didn't sprint to get back and was therefore at fault. Maybe he'd sprinted the first goal could been avoided. Basically he didn't play to the whistle.
 
You won’t find many RCB’s that step up and go forward than Dijksteel for me and he’s great at winning the ball back when it’s on the ground, but when it comes to dealing with headers in the box, he can be a liability.
 
I think Djksteel can be exempted.......he is the 'special sauce' that gives us so much forward impetus.
In a way it was good to see Wilder switching the CB positions against Barnsley - he knows it's a puzzle he needs to solve

Nah I’m not blaming Bola for that. Referee ****ed us over and everyone was out of position.

Let’s not pretend they were a dominant back 3 because they weren’t.

That’s my dilemma. He’s the most suited to us and nearly everything he does is fantastic but he costs us goals when it comes to picking up people in the box. Happened last season too.

Why can Dijksteel be exempted for being at fault for a goal, but Lenihan has been thrown under the bus yet again for a game he was faultless in?

Not much use having a defender who can bring the ball out whilst conceding two goals every game. We’ve got two wing backs to attack now - let’s have centre backs who can actually defend i.e. Fry and McNair
 
I think Bola is a problem because he's not a CB at all but he's not the only problem. Our defence was better last season when we had Taylor because he was more of a traditional fullback.

When you break our defensive unit down we have 1 CB, 2 fullbacks playing as CB, 2 wingers playing as WBs and Howson isn't a traditional DM. I'm guessing there is no confidence in the keeper either.

There's only one player in that unit who's only job is defending. Bola and Dijksteel get forward a lot. When we make mistakes and give the ball away we get outnumbered easily.

The solution if we are going to be so attacking is to score more goals which takes the pressure of the defenders.

one further question since we brought Giles we are even more attacking then how does a slower centre back in lenihan make us more secure at the back than fry

Wilder said the ref came into him at half time and admitted he made a mistake and should have given a free kick. Ref gave them a goal headstart

weak everywhere? We battered them, just looked at the stoke fans matchday thread and they've said exactly the same "call the cops theres been a robbery", "they should have beaten us 5-2" etc.
