Mcnair and Dijksteel

I really want to see more of Dijksteel, but it seems that Carrick prefers Tommy Smith since it fits his style of play. The only way i can see Dijksteel coming back to the first 11 if Smith gets injured, but i think there’s a chance he may be sold in January which i wouldn’t want since i rate him and he’s been worth the money. But with Mcnair i don’t think Carrick rates him and he’ll probably leave come January.

I rate him as an athlete and technically as a footballer. I don't rate his concentration, mental strength, communication, leadership, fight and willingness to put himself on the line for the team.

I think the same about Bola to be honest.

McNair is a funny one, has plenty of good attributes but has been off form since Easter or so. A good bench option with his versatility obviously, but I wouldn't start him in any positions ahead of anyone in the first eleven currently.

He looks like a midfielder filling in at centre half a lot of the time when played as a CB. In midfield he looks and moves like a CB trying to play as a centre mid.

Again, mentally he seems weak lacking the commitment to win his headers and do what it takes at times in the champo. He also does that falling forward and kneeling over the ball thing that every PL defender does when they feel the breeze off an opposition player touch their cheek as well, which I hate. I dare say he's on a decent wedge too?

All three have been here a while, I think we need to freshen the squad up. If we can replace these three with equally technically good players with a bit more fire in their bellies and commitment to the cause, I think we'll be in a better position, maybe even better off financially too.

Dijksteel won't be sold we wouldn't have a back up right back. Smith will get injured orr suspended and he just needs to take his chance. McNair is a funny one, has he even had one minute under Carrick? He was off form all season but you'd expect him to be one of those who regularly came off the bench

Where is Fisher? Was the Derby thing just rumours?

I wonder if he'll push for minutes elsewhere to keep his International place?

I suppose if you're viewing him as a central defender, there's not been any call for him to play yet.

Fry and Lenihan have played every single minute under Carrick.

I personally would be selling him whilst there's still time on his contract, he's been a great servant for us and I'd wish him well, but he's wasted on our bench and I wouldn't be dropping Fry or Lenihan for him.

Clarke is near enough back too isn't he?

Still rebuilding his fitness, as far as I'm aware, Wilder had always said he'd be back in January at the earliest.
He was in a number of training photos in the last few months.

He's one I'd probably move on too, just bad luck for him.

Finally back in training, though he's apparently still a way off fitness.

Yeah sure from the point of view of him being a defender you're probably right. But you'd still think he'd maybe be coming on in midfield occasionally when we're winning, or maybe instead of Mowatt yesterday

I’m still convinced Dijksteel is our best defender, but if he isn’t going to be used we might as well sell while we can get decent money for him. Same with McNair

Can I be the first to start a rumour that if he plays again it triggers a salary increase, a payment to Sunderland or voids an insurance payout.......

I don't think McNair could play the role Howson/Mowatt played yesterday

For me McNair looked like one of the key reasons as to why we were so poor earlier in the season. He looked like he couldn't care less every time he played, but perhaps he was just another victim of the end of that Wilder era. Think it said a lot that Mowatt came on for Howson yesterday and not McNair. Wouldn't surprise me to see him leave in Jan

You'd think he'd want to keep his hand in for Internationals, NI might have a chance of the a world cup spot next time around with 48 qualifying. Or haven't Europe got any extra spots?
