The council, the Mayor and the Chief exec.

In last night Gazette online 17 councillors have demanded that the Chief exec resigns. Now I am not here to stick for for the CE, I am sure he can do that himself. We need to understand the job of CE, we need to understand that the CE is head of paid services in the council, it's his job to look...

Yes you are right.

I have asked the CE directly about this, baring in mind as I've said before on this site, the CE is head of paid services who's' job it is, "is to follow and fulfil the plans of the elected mayor"- The CE replied that he was taking legal advice and was keeping, what he said was honest reasons for him doing what he did, to himself and his legal team for now.
I think he has legitimate causes for concern, remembering that the Mayor asked the council to remove the position of chief exec last year- that was voted down in council!

Yes the person illegally employed was Mr Allen, who I think co-owns "DNA PR Publicity" the same company that the mayor handed rights to publish the council 4 yearly magazine "Love Middlesbrough" as far as I am aware that was done though a proper process, at least I have not been told otherwise, this was all before I was elected!

I'm not sure if the mayor is still employing Mr Allen or someone else, that he claims to be paying personally, we are not privy to this info as it's obviously personal to Mr Preston, even though he wants some of the info in the public domain- there is after all an election coming this May.
