I've just been informed of the triple punishment rule, brought in last season. Basically a team cannot be punished three times which would have meant:-
1. a penalty.
2. a sending off.
3. a 3 game suspension for the player.

The ref was correct, but it was new to me too.

Great 3 points but why didn't we play like that last weekend.

This was not just brought in last season. It's been this way since 2016.

There is no way that Cooper could have played the ball from where he was even if Fletcher wasn't there, he physically couldn't have reached it. Should have been red. To me any time a player deliberately prevents a shot on goal he should be sent off. The player is making the decision to take the chance that the penalty will be missed or saved, so he should be sent off whether it is in the first minute or the last.
