Mason Greenwood

The United Chief Exec clearly trying to gage if they can bring him back, if you were a MU supporter would you want him playing again, there seems to be a lot of support on Twitter for it from their fans.

From my side, I was very much against us employing Gazza and Marlon King because of their history and for Greenwood I'd say the same. The only time I would accept an abuser as a player for Boro is if they had publicly acknowledged their actions and shown that they had taken proper steps to address the behaviour.

If I were a Man U fan and Greenwood came back, I would simply refuse to support the club, just like I would no longer support Boro if the club were bought by Saudi investors.

Hopefully his career is ended in his first game back. He's an animal and he's lucky not to be behind bars, let alone being allowed to play football.

I don't think they are trying to gauge anything. They've already made up their mind he is coming back and they are wondering how they can do it with the least impact.

Utd signed Ronaldo after knowing about his "alleged rape" (admitted by way of letter to his lawyer which made it inadmissable) and everyone happily glossed over that because it was Ronaldo and it was "probably made up anyway", even though he paid her to keep quiet.

He will be back and fans will move on and forget about it because a lot of them don't think he's done anything wrong because he was never convicted and his partner is still with him.

Or, rather worryingly, because they don't care.

Yeah I didn't want us to sign Gascoigne (or King when I found out about his history) so I wouldn't want Greenwood
On the other hand I could have accepted us signing Ched Evans because he was found not guilty of what he had been sent to prison for in a retrial

Is he up to speed? I would have thought his parents club would have some sort of responsibility over him.

Sending him out on loan or transferring him perhaps wouldn’t help the issue.

It’s gonna take a lot of effort by the club and player to make things better and to try and move away from this.

By better I mean some sort of growth/development and the same by moving away from it. Not just ignoring or sweeping under the carpet.

I think there might be a massive backlash if he does play again for United, not only from some Man Utd fans, but opposing fans, I don't think will play more than 1 game for them, probably shipped out to Saudi Arabia or some other **** league

I’m expecting backlash and protests in every stadium throughout the football league and premier league if he’s allowed to play again

He is scum whichever way you look at it. If he was a pretty rubbish footballer, he would be gone. Man Utd struggling with moral compass vs well he is a promising star.

Did you stop supporting Boro when Marlon King played for us?

It's depressing (but to be expected) that Man United's concern is how the outside world would react to this. As opposed to, you know, what are our own morals and values and is it the right thing to do?

The fact there is absolutely no public remorse or anything like that from Greenwood so far doesn't help his case either. I'm sure that'll come assuming they keep him, but it'll seem hollow and like a box ticking exercise. Plus probably a hard line to tread given his "defence" is he's not been found guilty of anything so might have to be careful about what he actually apologises for.

I seriously doubt he has remorse anyway (other than the Tory type remorse, "I'm sorry this got out and I ended up in trouble").

I wouldn't want him anywhere near our club.

The evidence against him is pretty damning and disgusting despite the lack of a conviction.

Similar to David Goodwilllie I doubt any club in the UK will touch with a barge bole.

A brilliant player who will improve Man United. If he returns and is as good as before their fans will quickly forget.

It's a fact that he hasn't been charged for anything. None of us know the exact details or circumstances. I've not read much about the case, but from my limited knowledge he is back with the girl, so perhaps he's shown remorse and has changed his ways.

The alleged offences are shocking by the way. Not something I would ever do, or accept anyone else doing.

There's literally an audio recording.

A lot of double standards on this board and from myself included.

I have alluded to the behaviour of an ex-Boro player on numerous posts yet people still want him back and tend to ignore his behaviour.

I do tend to agree with BeanBeany that a player should be allowed to atone for his previous actions. This needs to be shown by attending behaviour groups and counselling for a start.
