Unfortunately abusers usually isolate people from others in order to hide what's going on. Especially with something like this, I wouldn't be surprised if noone knew what was going on.

I hope that this will lead to a long prison sentence and his career being over, but I just have a nasty feeling that they'll find a way to make this go away.
Very few prosecutions are easy.

And as you say, she might never have disclosed anything to friends or family.

But also:

He could already be in custody, with his phone being downloaded as we speak.

She may have initially co-operated with the police and handed her phone over to be downloaded, if she later changes her mind regards to prosecution the police have already got that evidence.

She might not have disclosed what was happening to anybody, however police may get statements from her friends and family along the lines of : I remember she had a black eye / cut lip etc she said she fell down the stairs.

She may have attended hospital for treatment and stated she walked into a door, the dates may correlate with the statement from family members, therefore showing she wasn’t telling the truth about how her injury’s occurred.

Neighbours could be giving statements about what they’d seen or heard. Some of them may even have CCTV / phone footage of incident s happening in the garden / conservatory / near to french doors etc

Police may have had reports about him previously that never made it into the public domain.

Etc etc

She might have the right idea as the court of public opinion might well end up with him getting a far harsher sentence than the courts would give him, especially with the right lawyers!

A woman took Ronald to court for rape after he paid her off to keep quiet about jt, his legal team admitted that she said no repeatedly, and he's gotten away with it, so I'm not certain that we'll see Greenwood convicted either.

It seems like he should be, but it's never easy to get convictions with things like this, and he's very wealthy.
He can't just avoid visiting the country like Ronaldo did, at least.

Just caught up on this. People are really sick defending him on Twitter saying he’s had a tough season. **** me you really have to be a scum bag yourself to defend it

got to feel for Harriet, she will be scarred for life and no punishment of him will heal that

Whenever people go for the 'youse dunno the full story' defence of a total stranger, like on Facebook news article comments, it gives such insights into what they've been exposed to and consider normal.

Absolutely, and hopefully that's the case. I just fully believe that in 6 months time he'll still be playing football and all this will be forgotten about.

I don’t know how anyone could listen to that and not be horrified

Forget about the gifted footballer the matterriel stuff the money etc. That doesn't mean anything. Now it's about mason the failure ,the woman beater and looser that he is all about .Same with Adam Johnson we won't remember that gifted footballer just the child abuser that he is known for.Id rather have nothing than be recognised for all that.Thats how scum like that will be remembered.

Might not have been her who released it on her Instagram, could have been a friend of hers.

The recording is still floating around Twitter, just listened to it, backed up with s statement from her, he's in a lot of trouble.
Don't think you know how Instagram works

I think this could well be true. Lawyers would argue that the audio was them both partaking in some kind of role play and without any corroborating evidence it couldn't be proved he was guilty of causing her injuries.
On the balance of probabilities I like most people believe he is guilty of what hes accused of, and like most people, including fans of his own club, am sickened by it.

The audio alone should be enough for him to be immediately suspended by his club.
Then hopefully the Police will investigate and if he did cause those injuries he gets an appropriate punishment.

He didn’t have “young girls” in his room.

At the age of 18 he had a 20 year old fully grown woman in his room.
Sorry pal, I class them as young girls as they are to me. But you keep on defending the lad. I’m sure you have your reasons why.
