Having a quick Google to see any updates on him from Boca i see he’s not getting too much game time. I can see them not taking us up on the purchase option.

He was involved in most games last season. They played a friendly on Sunday, that was their first match in 2 months. Let's see what happens when the league starts at the end of January

I suspect that the option to buy at the end of the loan will be too expensive for Boca to take up. Argentian league has no money, hence any decent player moves to europe as soon as they can, and Payero will be on really good wages for that league. Boro may renegotiate the option at the end of the loan to lower the cost for Boca but my feeling is he will come back to Boro then be sent back out on loan next season then his contract will be up.

Wasn't it an 18 month loan? He'd only have 6 months left at the end of it?

Or am I mis-remembering?

Although it is probably over, I would really like to see him have a fully fit and up to speed pre-season and see what Carrick can do with him.

He seems much more suited to play as one of the 'three' now in our current formation, than he did in any positions in the Wilderball set-up.

unless he smashes it, and a spanish club come in for him, We could then at least get some cash back

If every game he played was like that Cardiff match just before they sacked McCarthy, he’d be a world beater. Just don’t think he has it at a top level, and if Boca don’t fancy him that pretty much sums it up, their coaching setup seems to be expert at unearthing quality Argentinian talent.

Being homesick and not being motivated to learn the language are issues that are hugely amplified by not the two coaches you've had being dead against you.

At times he seemed really eager to give it a go, maybe the chance to play under Carrick and a fresh start will be what the lad needs. There's definitely a player in there.

Can't see boca signing him, he's struggled to start, struggled to stay on when he has and when subbed on its usually late

Most the players boca buy and sell are in the region of £3m, so doubt they would be paying that for a bit part player
