Martin Payero - Middlesbrough - £25,000-a-week

From memory when he joined I recall it being reported he was on 14k. Sounds more likely than 25k. I'd be astonished if we are paying him that much. Then again it is Boro.

Wouldn’t be surprised, 5 million wasn’t he?

Love to know who signed off on this sort of project transfer just 2 years ago when now we haven’t got a pot to pi$$ in and couldn’t have gave the most productive full back in the league who is pretty much guaranteed to deliver and increase in value the same deal a fortnight ago

Can see it with bonuses etc, doubt basic will be that mind, but who knows. So long as those at the club keep giving 100% I really don’t care so long as the owner and CEO have it in hand

He has been reported to be one of our highest paid players along with Howson and McNair so 25k would fit that narrative.

Surely there's a Saudi club who would like to add an Argentine midfielder.

Hackney has generally playing how I expected Payero to play for us.

Our highest earning players are on about 15 - 17 these days, no way he’s on 25

He was probably loaned out precisely because his wages were too high for a bench warmer whatever they are. If he was on a modest amount I think we would have persevered rather than ship out. He’s back now because the move didn’t work out so we either loan again or see if Carrick can get a tune out of him.

We shipped him out as I can well imagine Wilder had no intention of working with him. He hasn’t ever and never will do unproven foreigners. After all, this is the manager who wanted Dwight Gayle and David McGoldrick playing up front for us last season.

Capology is either way out of date or just inaccurate cos Hackney is certainly not on £6k a week
That's who I had in mind re newer contracts like Hayden, Fry and Crooks. Note no attempt to estimate the new signings. They use algorithms to estimate the salaries except in the case of the green ticks ie Howson, Mcnair etc.

Stephen Walker is no longer at the club and he's still listed with a year on his contract, so obviously wrong there.

I said this the other day. I have it on very good authority that he is, which is probably why we cant get rid of him.

His fee was reported as $5m not pounds and it was staged on targets being met.

The average salary at Boro will be just over £20k, but he is younger then the average. I would have thought he would have come for anything over £15k/week. Salaries are genrally lower than the Championship in Argentina hence all their international players play in Europe.

This sounds like a load of tosh, Banfield would have been paying him hundreds not thousands a week so the idea we would be increasing his wage so much sounds like bull

Plus we paid about £2m in total not £5m

Salary sport has Payero on around £14K/week at Boca last season, which sounds about right.

Let's face it we just don't know the truth.....and never will.
We might be passionate fans but we are just treat like mushrooms really.

I'll add (just for fun) that Assombolonga was on £60k per week.
This was communicated to me by one of the junior pro players at the Club who said it was well known fact.

There's no way Payero is on 25k a week. He'd have been shipped out again if he was, Boca wanted to renegotiate the deal or have him back on loan again. The fact he's still here tells me he's on significantly less than 20k.
