Martin Payero, 24 year old, Boca Jnrs

he's still on loan and we have no option to drag him back unless boca want to terminate it early and we agree.

he hasn't done anything of note over there over the spell he has had. I don't believe they will be buying him from us
but when he is back I don't think we will be looking to do anything other than sell or loan him back out again.

Carrick might see something in him, you just never lnow
out of his hands until he is brought back, and I think he just does not want to be based anywhere other than his homeland and that was part of the problem with him, otherwise he would of went out on loan in England or Europe as a second option, as that would stand more chance of developing him or making us more money if a perm deal happened.

the fact he went to a country which isn't going to pay much in fees is quite telling he was home sick, as I don't think the club would of let it happen if they thought he would go anywhere else, he probably also took a hit on his wages maybe to get what boca would pay him, thats another way I think the deal would of happened the way it did, but its speculation on my part using common sense

I'm sure it was said their option to buy is at £3m, that seems to be the max they paid for players in recent window last time I checked, so I'd be surprised if they forked that out for him when he hasn't been a regular starter

If he matures a bit and comes back in the summer he might have a chance. Hopefully he wants to grow up a bit - both Akpom and Connolly have said in the last couple of weeks it sometimes just clicks.

Connolly admitted to not being professional, turned 23 and had a word with himself.

Akpom probably looked at himself in the summer and wondered where he was going. He said he's starting using what Arsenal taught him.

So there is chance he could come good. You just never know. Every transfer is a gamble. I hope he ends up happy and having a good career wherever that is.

I agree I’d love to see what carrick could do with him

It was interesting listening to macallister in his in his interview at the weekend talk about how hard he found it in his first year at brighton and how he couldn’t show his best as he took so long to settle into English football on and off the pitch.

He will be back in the summer then shipped straight back out on loan or his contract paid up and given a free transfer. We won't be seeing playing a real game in a boro shirt again.

Utter rubbish

You have no idea what will happen neither do I btw but I’d be surprised if carrick doesn’t evaluate him first.

Of course I don't know what is going to happen. Just saying what I think is likely to happen. There are many reasons I think what I said will happen. He has played the equivalent of about 8 games for Boca .He is not even getting off the bench at Boca now so its very unlikely they will pay the 3 million agreed for him, I doubt they would pay anything for him. If he can't make it in the argentinian league I doubt he will suddenly make the step up to championship or Premier League. He isn't Carricks or Kieran Scott's player and that is the main reason I think he will be shipped straight out.He also only has 1 year left on his contract if he did turn it round I doubt he would sign another contract. I think the only reason Carrick will look at him is if we can't get rid of him.

I expect him to immediately be loaned out again, if we can't find a buyer.

I doubt he'll want to come back and I can't see Scott or Carrick pushing the issue.

he will be getting evaluated while on loan like everyone else does, I don't think he wants to be here or succeed over here or he would of went else where on loan that the club will of wanted to go to, the club will of hated the fact we were loaning him back to his homeland because its not going to help us or get him a move elsewhere, epically when he not really set them alight over there.

I'm certain if he here after his loan ends if he returns to teesside he will be involved in training and pre-season, but sure he will have one eye on getting out of here, don't think he enjoyed being here on his own, epically getting injured so much which be even less fun when about on ya own thinking everything isn't working out for you. but always thought that if he was really interested in staying during all that down time as well as rehabbing he should of been learning the language and think he has broken english at best, which shows he wasn't making as much effort as he could of to be part of the team, as being able to communicate freely and understand the manager is one thing that is going to hold you back even more from settling and playing in the team

He's got the physical attributes for the English game as well as the South American skill. I think Carrick would be the perfect manager for him (and he has tons of experience of being in the dressing room with Argentinian players at Man Utd). If Payero gets some consistent game time I think he'll settle (this only applies if we are still in the Championship. I couldn't see him getting a look-in if we are a Prem team).

speaking english would go a long way to help him settle and avoid homesick. I would think the club organise lessons ... interesting to know how he does at these or even attends?

Exactly GS I honestly don’t get the negativity around him.

You’d think he was a gestede-dong gook Lee love child to read some of the comments.

He played in the Olympics for his country ahead of macallister.

he was out injured most of his time here, if he was going to learn it then was the time, its something you can't make someone do if they not interested , no way he does not learn it when on the side-lines but does when he in Argentina lol
