Sounded more like he was writing him off to me, along with one or two others who have more than proved their worth.I think we'd all be a lot healthier if we stopped obsessing over things former managers have said and instead focussed on what we have.
Wilder has a particular style of play so it isn't a given that a new player would come in and slot straight into the team. Maybe 'development' was the wrong word to use, but it's the sort of management speak we hear all the time.

You would like to think he could work with Payero. We definitely need options in midfield. We will lose Mowatt no big deal given the amount of minutes he's played and Barlaser looks a bit ordinary ATM moment but may yet come good. Plus Howsons age even though he is looking like a 24 year old at present.Very good player at this level.
He's not the only 1 who is looking alot better in this system with MC as manager. Makes me wonder if we don't go up, how Carrick could get Payero playing as he showed glimpses of class at times aswell.
Would you think Payero may be interested in a return? You would like to think he could work with Payero. We definitely need options in midfield. Better in that position than Stuani. I don't really think Stuani was that suited to it other than being tactically disciplined. He's the new Stuani. Clearly an excellent finisher but also as fit as a horse; I wouldn't mind betting that his endurance and running stats are comparable to Tav's. To be up there in the box in the 100th minute of the game to clinically finish a move is really impressive.
