Marco Branca - What a signing he was

He was certainly brilliant in the 2nd tier. Shame he didn't get the opportunity to show what he could do at the top level. Didn't get into the game in the League Cup Final and then injury took over.

A brilliant player - both him and us were robbed with a career ending too early. He would have gone on to be one of our greats!

Branca was elegant, gazelle like ... seemed to float around and strike with accuracy and composure ...

Alun Armstrong was also a class act. Always remember against Oxford 0-0 at half time, Merse played him through looked at the linesman and was celebrating before he'd controlled the ball.
As with Branca would have been worth more than his weight in gold without the injuries.

Indeed, I thought he was awful when we signed him that season. And then he morphed into an at times world beater in the premier league the following season!
