Ah right, that is a weird coincidence as that was the first Boro game in my lifetime. Only known of Branca as a cult hero from that late season so couldn't really understand how or what had gone wrong, before obviously finding out the injury issues. Seems like a massive what if, if he had been fully fit in that season.
 
I wondered why we had bought someone ad old as that but he was a cracking signing. Best finisher since Bernie, deadly in the box. A pity it all ended so badly.
 
I rated him higher than Rav, more to his game!
He'd scored a hat trick in the Milan derby just before we signed him iirc, sadly injury hit throughout his career, if he hadn't been i reckon he'd have been even more notorious, loved him me!

He was a bit of an Italian 'journeyman' who'd been around a bit. Definitely one that I thought 'who's this lad'.

A real shame we never saw more of him. Also ended badly with court cases etc. You can't knock 10 in 14.

I guess Uwe Fuchs had a similar instant effect. I can't think of many more.
 
Always remember his late winner at Reading in a crucial league game near the end of the promotion season. We were on the terrace behind the goal and we went mad.

He was certainly brilliant in the 2nd tier. Shame he didn't get the opportunity to show what he could do at the top level. Didn't get into the game in the League Cup Final and then injury took over.

Gaston the only other in recent times, massive positive impact on the back end of the promotion season when things started falling apart.

Ive just added a boro v spurs clip at the weekend, their record isnt bad on Teesside (apart from the 5-1)
