Manual v Automatic cars

Got my first auto just over a year ago, and wouldn't ever go back to a manual by choice now. Performance is great, but the sheer ease/comfort of an auto is superb and a game changer for me.

Had to rent a van a few months back, and it was a manual. The first 5 minutes of getting back used to things was a bit of a struggle, must have looked like a right idiot :ROFLMAO:

Yes definitely semi auto. They are arguably the best of both worlds.

You can drive around town hassle free and let it do what it wants. That or do a bit of B road blasting (observing the speed limit) using the flappy paddles and dropping it down a gear or two.

I had it in a 2015 golf gti. I doubt I'd buy another 'hot hatch' from the VAG group without it. Especially when big power like Golf Rs.
DSG is great, the Porsche PDK is brilliant too and they do give you the best of both worlds, especially if you are using your car daily for commuting.

I had a Nissan Maxima auto from 1993 to 20005. It was a 3 litre engine always did at least 25 to the gallon. The only major failure was the control panel. the engine and gearbox felt as though they would do another 150,000 + miles

Hence I have little or no comprehension of the problems of gearbox failure that others mention. If they still made them I might well still have one
