Mandatory hotel quarantine

I just can't see this working well here - may as well just close the borders I'm pretty sure the end outcome will be the same (almost nobody travelling).

The New Zealand example above doesn't sound too bad but I'm pretty sure we'll go our own, insistent on "Great British Intuition" and completely balls the whole thing up, when it would have been much easier and cheaper to follow the lead of mature democracies who actually know what they are doing (cough...Taiwanese Track & Trace....cough).

Would be interested to understand daily entries/exits at present to understand the scale of the potential operation.

We're looking to travel with work over the next month or so, which will be 10 days at either end, probably for a trip of less than a week. Sounds daunting but I'll likely just recreate my working day in a hotel room (which isn't a million miles away from sat at a kitchen table as I am currently!)

The difference is probably the sheer number of entry points, in WA nearly all international arrivals are in to Perth, and the numbers are obviously a lot lower than a Heathrow for example, add in our land borders and ports along with every other international airport too. I just think they'll struggle with doing more than the 'high risk' countries without basically shutting the international borders...........

The memo said to bring it in in February, just didn’t specify last year, hence the governments Herculean efforts this past year.

‘do Isolate, mandatarily, but whatever you do don’t isolate but do stay indoors, or outdoors with other people....Please, rub your hands in their face invading their personal space....I think. Bibo ergo sum’

Im going to be effected by this due to working abroad on rotation. Basically my 26 days off R&R will reduce to 13 days as we also quarantine for 3 days before departing again. Hopefully this will include Test to release after 5 days.

The company I work for charter their own flight, we’re tested weekly when away, can’t leave the hotel complex outside of work.

I live on my own and would rather be tagged or at least have snitches trying to catch me out.

i fully understand the reasons for the quarantine, should have happened last Feb, just a bit narked off as we’ll be some of the most tested people arriving back in the UK.

Am meant to be off to Brazil after this trip but it has been getting dragged out and dragged out since December. I've not been to South America yet so I'm hoping a way can found for it to go ahead. The OT will be nice too!
Brazil is one place you don’t want to be at the moment, with their current COVID variant, hence the quarantine at our end for any arrivals from Brazil.
