Manchester City - the double treble

Here comes the closet City Fan 😁

I really hope they do win all 3 again, I get that people have issues regarding where city’s money comes from but the fact they continue to dominate and wind up United and Liverpool fans is great in my book!!!

Just shows what more than a decade of sustained cheating can do for you.

There's a school of thought that ffp was brought in to enable the established big clubs like Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and Man Utd to keep their stranglehold on the top prizes and Man Cities creative accountancy is justified as it is fighting against what is essentially unjustified.
Don't know how fair that is but I don't mind seeing a different team to normal win here and in Europe. Though I'm hoping someone different win it here this year! It's good that there's a genuine 3 horse race, I don't think there's another top league in Europe where that's the case.

We have a Bayern Munich on our hands, in my view. This year will be 7 titles out of 8 and I can easily see them matching 11 out of 12.

I really hope so, the PL wanted to attract all the money now they have the product they crave.

As for cheating (again taking away where City’s money came from) how could a team do what City have done without breaking the nonsensical FFP rules, these rules and the subsequent profitability and sustainability rules were brought with one objective and one objective only, to ensure no team could break in to the elite group in the way Chelsea had done.

Now City are in this elite group they operate continually within the rules and any elite team could buy the players City do (with the possible exception of Haaland). Man Utd could have bought Grealish, Liverpool could easily have bought Akanji, and I don’t remember the being a big song and dance when City bought Bernardo Silva or Rodri (players again any of the elite clubs could have bought).

Long live the City dominance, I find it hilarious!!!

Have they already won it this year I hadn't realised? Liverpool and Arsenal will be disappointed!🤪
Even if they do it ain't 7 in 8, it'd be 6 in the last 8.

Sorry, its 6 out of 7 isn't it? And 7 out of 8 next year.

Yes, I think they'll win it this year. And next year. Hope I'm wrong.

See this is why i think City will win it.

Whilst Arsenal and Liverpool are easy on the eye at the moment and putting teams the sword they will have off games where points will be dropped and this current form wont last in my opinion.

City, usually at the turn of the year transform into a machine and put together a winning streak that takes them all the way. It's slightly different this season in that they are not beating teams 2, 3, 4 nil and are facing pressure in each game but they are grinding out results. They have almost transformed into a machine that just gets it done and are not overly bothered on doing it in style like they have in years gone by. That said, for me, City still have another gear or two to go and i don't see that with Liverpool and Arsenal. I still think its a question of can either of them keep up.

Re the treble, its definitely on and it will be most seasons. Realistically, i can only see Real Madrid stopping them in the Champions League who on their day are as good as anyone and experts in that competition.
I get the whole "winning without playig well" thing being significant, but in City's case their defence looks frail at the best of times and is constantly playing itself in to trouble that I almost think they have to batter times to guarantee a win cause invariably they concede all the time, like last night 3-0 up and concede 2 goals. They were lucky to win against Bouremouth at the weekend too, I don't think City can sustain grinding out 1-0 wins with their defence how it is, and I think generally, by and large, when they go a goal behind in games they're meant to win they often make a meal of pulling it back in a way that feels less certain than it does with the likes of Liverpool or Arsenal. When Liverpool go behind I still expect them to win like 4-1, when City go behind I expect them to dominate the ball and try to find the equaliser for ages and somehow end up conceding a second in the process instead.

As long as Liverpool don't win the league and Real Madrid don't win the CL, then I don't really care who wins the trophies.

I can't see past City in the Champions League at the moment. 2 legged affairs suits the best teams by quite a stretch, and no one out there are as good as them.

In fact, I think the only team out there who could KO them over 2 legs, would be Liverpool due to their goalscoring power, and they aren't even in the competition.

As for the league, Liverpool are looking strong and if they beat City in a week's time at Anfield, then they have to be favourites.

FA Cup is a coin toss between Liverpool and City, at the moment IMO.

Nah, if they win it, and it's still a big if, it'd be 6 in 8. Similar to Liverpool in the 70s and 80s and Utd in the 90s and noughties. Not quite Bayern yet, hopefully it won't get to that!

Last 10 years

2022/23 - Man City
2021/22 - Man City
2020/21 - Man City
2019/20 - Liverpool
2018/19 - Man City
2017/18 - Man City
2016/17 - Chelsea
2015/16 - Leicester City
2014/15 - Chelsea
2013/14 - Man City

I find it hard to care about Man City winning so many league titles tbh. Probably partly because I have no skin in the game supporting Boro, but also cause like... I grew up with Man Utd winning it 8 out of 11 seasons, and three years later 5 out of 7 seasons.

Even before my lifetime Liverpool took the p*ss winning it constantly too didn't they so 🤷🏻

financial fair play to me means they spend roughly the same so a limit should be set such as a £100 million thats it no excuses no fiddling and if the bottom team only spends £30 million in that season then thats the limit for the next.
Pipedream i know.
I'm sick of city now.
