Man Utd lose to Seville

Good.
Straight back to the studio where bitter ex-pro says 'United need to spend more money'.
What a crass comment.
A team like Seville consistently seem to be fighting above their weight - great teamwork. A team that seem to have sign players from the second level.
What's the answer.....more money.

That was Sevilla's 25th win out the last 26th in the Europa League knockout stages.

Quite a sensational record.

As for Man Utd, until they actually have a decent manager in charge, then they'll always fall short for the big trophies.

Ole doesn't know what to do when the big games come.

But no doubt they'll splash £100m+ on more players in the hope it works...

Long may it continue! Seeing unhappy Utd fans will never get old.

Spot on comment, was just saying the same at home. Man U have spent an order of magnitude more than Seville I reckon.

It was miserable Paul Scholes asking for the extra money to spend btw.

Gets my goat.
I heard the other day an 'expert'claiming Bruno Fernandez was the 'signing of the season'.
Like he was one of Mowbray's dirty diamonds or something.
It was no secret he is a fabulous player.....was loved in Portugal, that's why they fought to get top dollar for him.
What was it £85m or something??

My dream is that all of the top clubs run out of cash but it ain't ever going to happen.
Man City will be spending like crazy now they know they have the lawyers to beat the system, Barca will be back on it again too.
Won't be long until the first £1m per week footballer :(

I think that's already Messi on 1.15 million/week o_O.

I'm probably in the minority here but I like to watch football for the sake of the game, which sides play better, skills on show, tactics, which players are good which are shyte etc,

I don't watch it thinking so-and-so is worth £50m or on £100k a week or whatever.

Sometimes you can watch football for the sport, regardless of the reputations, who's taking part and how much they cost.

Anyway, that being said, it reminded me of so many, many games I've seen over the decades where English teams batter the opposition, but don't win. Then lose to a sucker punch goal against the run of play. No change there then :)

The much vaunted Premier League, reputedly "the best in the world", cannot muster a finalist in the two European finals. Over-hyped, over-sold and over-rated.

What is the best tho? Germany? Where the same team wins every year without fail? France?? Italy?

If it’s Spain, that league hasn’t proven anything this year either. Seville are a good side and have been for years, but it doesn’t mean La Liga’s the best.

Define best. For me, I'd far rather watch the Championship. I'd rather have a competition than an exhibition.

I agree. I only really get emotionally invested in Boro games and occasionally England games so if there’s a Man City - Liverpool game for example or a big European tie I’m happy watching it for the spectacle, it doesn’t enter my mind who costs what or who’s earning what. It’s a fact that football generates billions of pounds, for me it’s only right the players get their percentage of that.

I could tell when Man United missed a load of chances they would end up losing. United should have won really, but it's the second game in a row that they've created loads and not scored.

Since the restart they have been absolutely brilliant at times and great to watch. They are definitely short of a couple of players though.

Well, I understand that point, but I don’t think it’s the “highest quality” league.

It’s a very hard thing to define but I actually do think the PL is one of the best. It’s a very high level and there is still some competition between the best few clubs at least.

I know lots of English people like to play it down because of the “greed”, but that greed exists in all of the top leagues.
