Man citys fans

I'm fairly certain that not many of their fans felt as elated by their win today as I felt in Cardiff 2004.
I will never forget that day and the excitement of our club working so hard to win a trophy.

Of course they won't.

But I'm fairly certain that you'd have been nowhere near as elated if that win in Cardiff had been our 4th consecutive League Cup win in a row, and 8th in 12 years.

Just my opinion, the Premier League has attracted a lot of (putting it politely) "new" fans.. They just don't have that vociferous passion that we used to have. As prices go up its no longer a grass roots game.

Over the last few years I've squeezed a few EPL games in around business (Etihad, London, Anfield, OT and VP). None were great re atmosphere...

Nothing beats the Riverside on nights like Chelsea, Spurs, Steau, Liverpool etc. Just too inconsistent.

And yes the early leavers boil my p....s too. I get it if we are getting dubbed. But drawing or a close lead or behind - baffling

Wouldn't say bitter at all. People have a right to an opinion.

They have won so much in the last 7 years because of Guardiola, their spending power and the simple fact they have easily been the best team in England. Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal.....all had equal opportunities to build their squads to compete, all bar one failed.

Man U in the 90/00s, fans were exactly the same. Even before the season kicked off their was a overwhelming sense of entitlement that trophies were incoming. All they had to do was buy a new shirt, turn up, be entertained then go home. Little effort needed as the players would be doing it on the pitch regardless.

Sadly for City, these 115 charges are hanging over them tarnishing their achievements somewhat. A lot of them were even before Pep took over, so.......🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Got a few mates who are long standing (from the 90s) ST holders at City, and they are just enjoying the moment while it lasts, nothing wrong with that. Yes, they have a lot of plastics/tourists/tag alongs but any club achieving that level of success will. It's inevitable.

As for the football...... personally find it a bit of a boring watch, but do appreciate their system and the players that play in it. It works - unplayable at times - but as a neutral found watching Arsenal, Man U (unpredictable), more entertaining.

Hate them? Definitely not. Bored (again) with a single teams dominance? Absolutely.

They get very precious if you ever mention on a public social media post about their lack of enthusiasm. I did on a worst atmosphere in country post from one of thee news outlets. They bite like mad. Had a few angry little fellers threaten me with violence etc. Its quite amusing most of them are in their 50s short and fat. Probably used to hide at the back during the hooligan days.

I do enjoy calling them out and pointing out their threats are as empty as their stadium and telling them when they get relegated for all their dodgy dealings I will happily have a meet up, I’ll even record it and post it as a reply to this comment, so the world can laugh at you while you run away with the brown stuff running down your leg.

It wasn't though.

Exactly.
So it's obviously going to mean more, it's not because Middlesbrough fans are better or more passionate than Man City fans, it's just because we're far less used to success.

Every single fanbase in the world would be exactly the same.

Arsenal won the FA Cup in 3 of the last 5 seasons of Wenger's time in charge, their fans were kicking off all the time and wanting him gone.

Liverpool fans haven't been happy with the way this season has gone because they "only" won the League Cup.

Celtic have won almost every domestic single trophy in the last decade and their fans were calling for Brendan Rogers' head when it looked like they might miss out for once.

Real Madrid fans are insufferably entitled.

Nottingham Forest are a provincial club that have won absolutely nothing in my lifetime and their fans still see themselves as massive because of one manager's excellent reign.

Etc.

If Middlesbrough regularly won things, or had in the past, many of our fans would take things for granted too.

That’s a long reply to a charge of being bitter. OK, you’re not and I get why you aren’t but the number of threads are voluminous to suggest that quite a few people are. They have more money than most but they have spent well, they have recruited well and they are fantastic footballers. Ok the charges will one day come out and we will find out if they have breached the rules but until that happens their superiority over other big spending clubs is obvious. And I prefer them to Chelsea and Man U. And as for saying City are boring a good piece by Martin Samuel’s in yesterdays ST.

I agree......and if people "hate" them that's up to them. Most seemingly find the football a bit robotic, but of a dull watch.....each to their own, I get this bit.

They have proved spending money - whether that is £80m or £15m - on the system works.

The charges against them - I'm not a footy legal expert, so haven't a clue. BUT. It is hanging over them.

And I think for anyone to prefer Chelsea or Man U over City.....😳😳

Samuel’s point about City changing the face of football is a pertinent one and not just in the EPL. Possession football is key. Our tactics have changes influenced by what Pep has brought to the game in this country.

City used to be proper supporters back in the Maine Road days. I would honestly prefer to be in our financial situation. The lows as a supporter make you appreciate the highs even more. The club has lost It's identity and Newcastle will probably go the same way.
Agreed, I wouldn’t change us

I agree Man City seems to have lost its soul - I noticed when we beat them in 2015 - the Eithad was like visiting DisneyWorld. Citeh at Maine Road was usually a bit scary even in the 1990s.

It the atmosphere at the Riveriside is terrible I can't think how some Premier League atmosphere will be described when in 50k to 70k stadiums the managers can be heard shouting to their players.

They are a sterile bunch
Atmosphere is total garbage considering what they are playing for ...
Weird
It's like they just know they will win and don't get that wrenching fear that other normal clubs fans get....
Boooooooo...
That's what bairdy reckons.
Entitled BS

When we score 3 or 4 goals, it’s a fairly rare thing and we enjoy it as such. Us scoring 5 is even rarer, and is special.

Sounds weird, but I imagine scoring 4 or 5 goals every few weeks would completely diminish the joy or sense of achievement and would become a bit numbing.
