Man citys fans

They are a sterile bunch
Atmosphere is total garbage considering what they are playing for ...
Weird

City used to be proper supporters back in the Maine Road days. I would honestly prefer to be in our financial situation. The lows as a supporter make you appreciate the highs even more. The club has lost It's identity and Newcastle will probably go the same way.

Our atmospheres had been terrible all season, so I don't think it's anything to do with finances.

Our atmospheres have been terrible all season?
Not terrible. Not compared to a lot of clubs anyway. Chelsea at home in the Semi Final was electric. When that just becomes a run of the mill game, that's when the atmosphere becomes sterile. Success just becomes an expectation due to the money ploughed into the club.

It was shocking for almost all of the season, and it was poor for most of the previous season too, even when we were absolutely flying.

A large chunk of our fans were leaving around the 70th minute when we were battering teams.

The Chelsea atmosphere was a one off, against a much bigger team and we took the lead totally against the run of play.
If we'd went 1-0 up early against Stevenage in a League Cup semi-final, the atmosphere would probably have been turgid.

Their fans are just a popular target for abuse for some reason.

There's no jeopardy, which must make it tricky to get worked up.

We had people bored and staying away during a second UEFA cup run, so perhaps if Boro were onto a consecutive PL title it'd be the subs benches and two old fellas in the west stand whose legs have seized up sat watching us. 😉

Why do grown men feel the need to spoil it for the majority and invade the pitch before the final whistle? We've seen it at the Boro and many other clubs.

Give your heads a shake and have a word with yourself.
Because they’ve just won the title on the last game of the season. This is what football means to some people. That excitement can go overboard but is nothing new. In an age where all we hear about in the press, on the tele, on forums is that money, VAR etc is taking the excitement out the game, it seems strange to mock fans for getting, well, excited.

There is no excuse to spoil the enjoyment of others. Even the City players had to plead with them to get off the pitch to allow the game to finish.

Crazy.

Really? I bet not a single supporter in that stadium had their enjoyment spoilt because people where pitch side. The players wanted them to keep off for the game to end. They certainly never seemed concerned when the final whistle blew.

If that was the case, why were Man City fans booing the ones on the pitch?

I agree, maine Rd was a very hostile place to visit as an away fan in 80s / early 90s , a bit like ayresome Park imo .

I take a different view about our support.
I think it has been pretty good given relatively poor home form until very late in the season.
Arsenal was electric at times today, especially on West Hams goal, but not all match.
I’ve heard Old Trafford, Anfield, Etihad, Bridge, St James like morgues regularly.

The only thing that irks me about our home support has been an increasing flow of people leaving from about 70 minutes. It grinds my gears.
