Man City Vs Spurs

Yeah, they've just shown him it back again and it's not even close to offside.

Genuinely don't know what the referee is blowing for.

I can only assume he hasn't realised Grealish had got it down. But if he'd given himself another couple of seconds he would give soon realised

To be honest Boro had one of these against us a couple of weeks ago....

If Greenwood hadn't bust the net from the resulting freekick their would have been hell on!

It wasn't as clear cut chance as Gealish but we got in behind when the ref blew after initially giving the advantage. I was livid when he pulled it back.

It was an incomprehensible bit of refereeing. Well, I guess it's a mistake but I can't understand why he appears to initially play the advantage and then a few seconds later blow up?

Was it flagged as offside? Wouldn't be expecting the ref to blow for offside given his position, the fact it's primarily the job of the linesman, and VAR protocol.

He played advantage then brought play back. It's a bizarre decision, just can't get his thought process at all. Certainly one where there should be some sort of interview or explanation given after the match.

I very much doubt it. The assistants are not told to flag for offside when it’s tight like that for obvious reasons. And the ref gave a fk to City. My guess is it was just a massively delayed reaction to blowing without looking how the play was developing

The ref has made a mistake. Probably thought Grealish was outnumbered by Spurs defenders but it's not as if Grealish was about to tap the ball into an empty net from a yard out.

Yeah he blows when the ball is mid air. He probably thinks it's going to get headed away. There's a lot of pressure in football for referee to make a quick decision. They should be encouraged to take their time over seeing whether there is an advantage.

Still a terrible decision

just watched it, a shocker, it's decisions like this refs should explain post match imho. I'll be amazed if he isn't stood down for the next match, wonder if Howard Webb has a view on it
