Man City in midtable and already off the pace

Perhaps dogshyte is a better term. First job - did well, but inherited Messi et al, then ran away. Second job, Bayern; took reigning European champions and perennial league winners to European also-rans. City; PL; good record with limitless budget. Huge European underachievers.
First job, he had to get rid of a few bad eggs, is wasn’t handed to him on a plate. If you get the job at Barcelona you’ll have decent players. He promoted players into the team too. He did a great job at Barcelona

Clough & Ferguson were the big game managers for me, both built teams, then rebuilt teams
As if neither of them never spent big! Ferguson is lauded for the class of 92 players but they were only half the team. He spent most of the premier league years he was in charge picking off the best players from his rivals through sheer spending power.

I think you have to give a bit of acknowledgement to the fact that this isn't a usual season, with a ridiculously cramped schedule including international matches, where most of the City players will be off representing their national teams. Every manager is limited this season under the current circumstances.

Guardiola is hardly a fraud, just as Klopp will one day hit a string of results or events that leads to him moving on from Liverpool. Just as Mourinho will get Spurs playing well, but it will come down like a pack of cards when he decides he's going to ship out Lloris and decide to hold a vendetta against Matt Doherty.

Fergie also had seasons where Man Utd underperformed and didn't challenge. That's not taking anything away from him, incredible record obviously but let's not pretend he always got it right. No manager can.

This season and probably next are a good test for Guardiola. Be interesting to see how he does.

Guardiola has to build his second dominating City side. Him or the club have scuffed their recent opportunities with players brought in not being able to hit the high standards, but give him time.

He can shut up and **** off when he starts commenting on changing the structure of the leagues etc.

They did spend big, I've not said they didnt have I?

They also had 'big' players leave & replaced, some players were big signings others not so, both managers done it at 'smaller clubs' also

Their recent transfer activity is pretty poor. How have they only 2 centre forwards (one injury prone) with the resources they have? They have no excuse for having an unbalanced squad. Almost makes our recruitment look "ok".
