Man City Charges Hearing Concluded

Fine
Transfer ban
Points deductions
Stripping of Trophies
Play in empty Etihad, away fans allowed, no away tickets for their fans
Ban on playing Blue Moon

Hope the punishment fits the crime but I suspect an appeal will see it watered down to being told they’re very naughty boys and told not to do it again or they’ll be sent to their rooms.

Why would they want arguably the best club team in the world in the championship? Really?

With their huge wealth and incredibly talented squad, not to mention the media attention, it would be pennies from heaven for their brand.

Well I'd took it as you meaning they were ******* themselves in fear, rather than them being turned on by the thought of it.

I am sure they can’t be demoted , only relegated on point. As the premier league and EFL are different competitions there is no mate to allow for demotions as we have seen it Italy.
They could expel them from the pre
Over league for 10 years as punishment if they so choose. Meaning even if they won the championship they wouldn’t be allowed entry to the prem

Plenty of those players wouldn’t stick around to be fair.

But yeah, you’d have a relative Rangers style situation I guess.

They have an agreement with the EFL that 3 promotions and 3 relegated. Can’t see the EFL wanting to have a city side win it for 10 years in a row or breaking the promotion/relegation jeopardy.

115 individual charges. I’m amazed it’s finished already tbh.
It's only really 5 or 6 charges. It's multiple of each of type of charge. Some of them are more major than others. My guess has always been they'll be found not guilty of the major stuff (because the PL rules weren't robustly written) but found guilty of the minor stuff (not cooperating) and the punishment will be fairly minor. Both sides will be able to claim they've won.

If city win the champo and the prem have barred them, then the champo would send 2nd, 3rd and 4th up

If they are found guilty, no doubt lots of appeals, going to CAS, etc. The verdict and its ramifications will also end up being a long drawn out process.

They'll get a fine, and either a point deduction this year when they've fluffed the league already
Or they'll start on -10 next year, recruit well and win the league by Easter.
Anyone thinking they'll relegate them is mental. The court cases if thats the route the league went down would take YEARS and would end with a much lesser fine/point deduction as a result of it.

I would say - if proven guilty......
Ban from European competitions for each year they cheated.... So if 10 years then a 10 year ban
And transfer restrictions

To relegate them to any league is unfair on that league
Let them experience ten years of competing domestically and watch the Harlands et al leave.
It would be be a football purgatory.
One relegation to the championship is meaningless. It will be one season.

Edit: or perhaps not!

I was listening to Sky Sports yesterday and Man City are in the market to secure three different players that will come to roughly £100 m.

They have ridiculous revenue. They are now allowed to spend more than everyone else because of that. They don't though. £100m on 3 players is fairly small investment when you consider they made a profit of £98m on transfers in the summer and teams like Brighton spent £195m on players in the same window.

These charges are all about the fact that the big boys that are allowed to stay the big boys by outspending everyone should be the only ones that are allowed to do it. What City are doing currently is well within the rules.

I'm a bit conflicted on how these charges will be handled, assuming MC are guilty.

On one hand, the rules are in place to stop upstart clubs like MC muscling in on the establishment's patch.
On the other hand, MC are, by now, quite important to the overseas TV rights, and I can't see anything happening that endangers their place in the league.
