Man City’s Rodrigo Hasn’t Been on a Losing City Side for 12 months

Seems like a switched on guy too.

He was living in Student Halls whilst playing for Villareal I think it was (doing a business degree), couldnt imagine a top flight british player doing that!

Also shuns social media - never a bad thing! (or at least he used too)

Interesting for a top modern day footballer.

My favourite PL player!

City miss him more than any other player, everything goes through him and he looks such a natural footballer, never seems rushed.

A very decent man it seems too, he donates a portion of his salary to charity and generally shuns the typical footballer celebrity lifestyle, staying away from social media.

Pep dropped Rodri for the CL Final against Chelsea and they lost. Obviously Pep is an all-time great manager, but imagine the pelters Southgate would get for all eternity if he made a similar selection error.

As for the point made in the OP, Rodri is clearly the rock on which City's attacking foundations are built.

When he doesn't play they have to change formation to 2 DMs because he is so good he does the job of 2 players. He even chips in with a surprising number of goals considering his role. He makes everything look easy.

Yep, in agreement with many. Take Rodri out of that Man City team and you've effectively removed the engine from a well oiled machine.

It's quite alarming how important he is to that Man City team.

Take KDB, Haaland, Foden, Bernardo, Stones, Dias, Ederson....anyone else, out of that team and they usually cope. Take Rodri out and they fold like a pack of cards.

The drop off between Rodri and their next CDM is staggering.

He does the job of 2 men in that midfield. His tackling and positional play is outstanding, and yet his passing and shooting is top notch too.

There isn't a single player in world football who is better than him, in his position.

I said before, he should have been in the running for Ballon D'or, over Haaland, because without Rodri, they wouldn't have won the CL. He basically single handedly won them that trophy with his performances and goals during the KO's.

He’s so good that nobody even mentions Fernandinho, who himself was possibly as good as Rodri for several years before Rodri signed for them.

Still amazing that he was dropped for the champions league final. Simply can't fathom why anyone of peps intelligence would think that was a 'good idea' 😂

He is pivotal to everything that's good about City. The stats back that up. He's missed more than Haaland / KDB or many of the other fantastic attacking players. They can all be replaced. They don't have anyone remotely who can do the job he does. Absolutely invaluable to them.
