Male Boxers fighting Females in the Olympics

No real view on this so can someone explain. At the world championships the IBA said the two competitors at the centre of this debate could not take part as they failed to pass the appropriate tests to compete in the women’s event.
Normally the IBA oversee Olympic boxing but because of allegations of mismanagement of boxing by the IBA in the past, their own Olympic Committee have taken over the oversight of the boxing and for this competition they have passed the same two competitors with the same test results to box in the Women’s tournament?
So were the IBA wrong to not allow them to box at the World Championships as the tests undertaken appear to be the same with the same results?

To complete your question;

or is the Olympic Committee wrong to allow them to complete in the Olympics.

I don't know the answer.

Yes - he’s probably a far right grifter
Don’t know about that
And, in fairness,I shouldn’t have called him ignorant. He knows his boxing.

I suppose he has the right to say what he wants about anything - why anyone would bother taking note of ramblings on this I don’t know.

What next - ‘Barry on the Yemen crisis’

I dont claim to understand all of this but from what has been posted on here the two athletes in question have higher than usual levels of Testosterone - surely that is still giving them an advantage in the same way an boxer/athlete who takes steroids does ie it takes them beyond 'natural'

In various sports it could make them faster, stronger etc but in Boxing it could make them hit harder... a lot harder.

Its a tough one because if its a genetic/condition they have then what are they to do?

I saw the boxing clip and it looked a shambles in terms of the gulf between the two.

Happy to be corrected on anything i have said based solely on the information i have read in this thread.

Seeing as he’s an ex world champion and has been involved in boxing all his life I’m thinking he’s pretty qualified to comment on boxing

You're trying to be facetious. Its about choice.
Why would they want to do that? Surely no one is suggesting they have to fight men?

That’s exactly what they’re suggesting by allowing males to enter the female boxing events.

If the woman refuses to fight then her dreams of winning Olympic gold is in ruins and the man goes into the next round, where another female will then have to make the decision on whether to fight him, and risk serious injury, or not.

This is what female boxers are up against…

Excellent news for many posters on here, a female boxer who trained hard for 4 years has had her Olympic dream left in tatters because she was made to fight a male opponent.
