Luton are cheats

I'm not sure the penalty would have been over turned with VAR there has to be conclusive footage that no part of Zach touched the Luton player, and I think his legs did with the trailing foot of the Luton player, it was streetwise from the Luton player he left his foot there and moved it slightly wide as Ronaldo did against Woodgate way back , but Zach's rush gave the referee a decision to make.
For me, it's definitely not a penalty because the Luton player looked for Zach, but I don't think that has ever counted in Refs considerations and from what I have seen of Var it's only as good as the people who adjudicate on it which often is very poor.

I hate diving, but I'm perfectly happy for our players to dive if other teams are benefitting from doing it. Why would we put ourselves at a disadvantage when cheating is being rewarded?

100% would’ve been overturned. Threshold for contact has increased this year- morris knows it’s dived, but as carrick said it’s irrelevant and as I said at half time if we lost it didn’t matter as we proved are a far superior team to them and Chuba will have a field day.
contact isn't in itself a foul, if there was any contact it was absolutely minimal, not enough to send anyone to the ground. He cheated and should be punished

He said it all himself in the post match interview, he ‘thought’ there was contact.
We know he is touched.

He left his leg out and it brushed Steffen.

Penalties are given in such situations.

I would have no problem if we’d been given one in such circumstances.

Never, ever a penalty.

I'm hoping he gets a retrospective ban, but I doubt he will as there are enough dafties who are justifying it by claiming that the fact he's made sure his leg is near Steffen after he's already flinging himself to the ground means that it's not a dive.

It was, he knows it, we know it, the ref will know it when he watches it back.

Most subdued celebration by a penalty take ever , especially to score his 20th of season, especially to come from behind and lead the Boro. Why ? Guilt set in. Victors guilt. Fell over his own stumble after leaving a trailing leg which never connected. Didnt even claim for it til he was sat on floor 4 s later , just putting up a meek hand, didn't expect to get it obv. Contrast his non celebration with team mates that didn't cheat.

I'd be more worried after last night if I was a luton player/fan/manager than being Boro. We played squad players, lft out the league top scorer and dominated large parts of the game and they relied on a dive and a goal from a corner that probably gets disallowed 50% of the time

Amidst all the controversy regarding both goals, cheating and name calling, I thought Carrick was superb in his after-match interview. He didn't get excited or involved with "what might have been" and said the result changes nothing, it doesn't affect us, we learn and prepare for what lies ahead in the next few weeks. He must have iced water in his veins.

Wasn't really bothered about tonight, a good performance and no injuries - job done.

But getting beat to an absolute blatant dive and incompetent refereeing........fooking annoyed. Well annoyed.😠😠
Totally agree. I would have accepted a defeat as it changes nothing but the manner of it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
Really want to play them again at Wembley and tear them a new one! 😡 😡
