Lumley

one of his best games for us today. he's got character, I'll give him that.
They are not robots , they know when they f up .......but if you speak to a pro & say why did they do that ...its a diffrent world from our pub level stuff . I go down to a empty seat in the east a couple of times a year & watch it at that level , you see how bloody fast it is compared to row 17 etc , split second stuff

Sat behind the goal and despite having been very critical on an anonymous basis within this board, backed him every minute. Every time he had to collect the ball the whole north was chanting at him and telling him he had it in him, he responded with eye contact and fist bumps and did the business on the pitch.

All credit to the lad. Goalkeeping is hugely about psychology and hopefully this gives him a platform to build off. Many a worse keeper than him have gone on to blossom in later years, let's hope he finds his head and form now 👍

A poster stated he was s*$@e the other week, he's made some mistakes in his 1st full season as a keeper, but 100% away from what that poster said about him

To be fair he has been completely shocking the majority of the season, hopeful the last two games give him the confidence to cut these mistakes out but we have to replace in the summer regardless

Credit where credits due. Has played well the last two games. Seems to be getting rid of it more rather than the tippy tappy stuff in own box. (y)

Problem is we need a keeper comfortable with the ball to play this system, which is why he needs to be replaced in the summer. Just going to have to adapt for this season because giving him the ball will just end in a mistake

Spot on.

A full back completely miscontrols the ball, it goes out for a throw in. Everyone laughs and it’s forgotten about 2 mins later.

Keeper misjudges a cross and flaps at one, there’s moans and groans and it’s still talked about weeks later
Hmmm this is true, of course. However lumleys errors are generally due to rash decision making and being erratic. Same errors week on week.

Agree that he was solid today so fair play. Needs to put a run of 8~10 of these together first before I’ll be convinced he’s turned a corner!

Must have imagined all of those mistakes then
And I think that's the point that was being made, he's been judged on the conspicuous mistakes, rather than all of his game, if that's not counter-intuituve.

De Gea went through a period of making a lot of mistakes, but it didn't mean he was a poor keeper, rather he's a world class keeper that has allowed mistakes to regularly creep into his performances.

I'm obviously not saying Lumley is on the same level or anywhere near, just that he had talent, but needs to cut out the majority of the mistakes.

Take those away and he suits our system well.
