One poster was particularly dismissive of engel. I don't doubt that when Thomas has a bad game he will be on his back too.

Thomas will start ahead of engel if not immediately soon thereafter hes got far more experience playing at higher level. Hes not come to sit on the bench

Possibly. He will be as exposed as engel is and some of our fans will get straight on his back.

However, prior to bangura's injury we probably wouldn't have been looking at a lb at all. He wasn't brought in because engel isn't good enough he was brought in because we are short in that position.
 
It’s a very logical signing. Engel won’t get us promoted as a first choice left back. Have a look at all the goals conceded as a direct result of his poor play defensively.

Completely agree it would be interesting to see some analysis of which areas the goals have been conceded from this season. Certainly the coventry game recently we were horribly exposed on the left after robins identified it midgame and overloaded. It was exactly the same at Stamford bridge. clarke and engel are not quick enough as a combination on the left side of defence its a massive weakness.

It's a logical signing because we only have 1 fit lb.

It’s not just that Engel lacks pace, he just gives the ball away around out penalty area or makes poor clearances. You just wouldn’t have him as first choice as part of a strong back line.
 
You can see from the training videos that LT is naturally left footed. LT also has more experience than most of our squad. Remember Engel is still young and inexperienced in England. He was probably not bought to play every game this season, but we are so short that is what had been forced on us.
