Luke Ayling Medical this morning

Experienced, will bring a bit of bite/nastiness to the team, plugs a problem area for us and hopefully frees up Rav to play more centrally, (I imagine) not too costly an option wages/loan fee wise, he won't have to move house, can share Cal Kavanagh's hair bobble collection. Wins all around, no losers in this deal.

Terrific signing. A leader and fills the troubled RB position. No messing around 'getting used to the league' etc.

A win win for both parties. I believe his contract is up in the summer and Leeds are not extending. So a chance for him to put himself in the shop window whilst helping us out. Also if he impresses then probably put us top of the que to sign him.

No negatives to this move. A shrewd bit of business for a short term fix.

I'm going to look at this a different way and say I'm not sure.
He already knows his contract is up at Leeds and no extension and he won't have a chance to conclude that 7/8 year relationship (mostly Captain too) with the fans/club on the pitch at Elland road with a few last runouts etc - That's a bit sad
He must know that we won't be offering a contact to RB at 33yr old in summer - regardless of performances
So it's all about what's in his head. He may be thinking of retiring in summer , just kept it to himself and now been offered the chance to play instead of sit on a bench. If he has no plans to retire then he knows the future is dropping down a level of club or even a league. Main thing though is the poss injury situation where if he wants to play on he has to stay out of injury as a medium or long one would mean he's unavailable in summer and would probably force a retirement decision anyway. That might mean we don't get the shithousery of his younger self.
For a short term fix for us I agree it makes sense if we can see his full commitment to pulling on another shirt for first time in 7 years.

He will be coming here to ensure he is being seen and win a contract regardless if Boro or somewhere else. So I'd expect him to impress us whilst here.

Exactly, I'm fully expecting the Mark Viduka effect, where upon entering the last 6 months of your contract you perform with super human abilities to ensure another megabucks contract.

Im holding judgement till i see him perform. Never really impressed me in the past. Hopefully he avpids injury unlike most of our right backs

One thing he will definitely bring that we massively miss at times is someone to get in the referees ear. Despite being on the end of some absolutely shocking refereeing decisions this season we just seem to accept it and move on. Getting in the refs ear once in a while can only be a good thing.

I agree - we do seem a little "soft" this season and a player like Ayling is the type of player we don't currently have - although I noticed RVDB was doing a bit of this last night.

I liked him in that documentary about Leeds a couple of years ago. He came across well. It was the major turning point in helping me get over my immature "I automatically hate all players from rival clubs" mindset.
