Lucy letby

Surely there's only 1 sentence for her on Monday and that's a whole life term with no release!
Undoubtedly. Hopefully she doesn’t get a chance to take the easy way out (in her circumstances) and rots for the next 50+ years.

I can't imagine the verdict will do much to help the pain those poor parents must be in.
But It's good that she was caught and can't do it any more.
And perhaps a proper life sentence with no hope of release will help the families later.
Not today but hopefully one day it help show their child is valued by all of us.

Do you think sky news will be showing the sentencing live?? I know they have been only 1 of 5 news agencies that have been allowed in the courtroom....other have been watching via video link from a building over the road apparently.
I'm not being morbid or anything but studied alot about criminology and psychology when I was younger and stuff like this is interesting to me (not the deaths of those poor children)...but her and what would make her do something like this as, from what I've read, she hasn't shown any of the stereotypical psychopathic or mental health traits associated with these things normally

There was a nurse in Grantham who had Munchausen by proxy i.e she liked the excitement and attention that emergencies brought and I think this ended in some baby/toddler deaths. She was caught on video.

I wonder if Letby like playing God alia Shipman and having the power to take life. I know thats very sad and sick but this was a very extreme case.

Some horrendous mistakes by the senior managers at the hospital, unbelieveable to be honest (I'll let board members look them up, because it is very upsetting for me to write them.

From what I picked up earlier today all the consultants believed Letby to be the likely killer after 7 deaths, but there were 13 deaths. She continued to work with babies unsupervised at times. In a school a teacher is suspended if they are any allegations against them of inappropriate behaviour with children. I repeat allegations. Then there is an investigation by the school. It seems an enormous difference in employer attitudes and actions between schools and the NHS.

Ref Funding and Politics

I do think the NHS needs more funding, but look at the Stafford hospital deaths between 2005 and 2009. It is believed 400 patients died that did not need to. The common reason was neglect. The hospital had stopped recruiting nurses to meet Government funding targets so they could get a quality mark. I believe that was a Labour Government and before Brexit etc. No managers in charge of the hospital were ever diciplined or admitted they were at fault. I guess the same will happen at Chester.

Apparently 7 consultants had concerns about her and reported it to management.
A couple have been on the news tonight..one even had to apologise to her.
When the emergency buzzers are going off in the ward and even the nurses are saying..."is Lucy working tonight" it's obvious that the hierarchy tried to ignore it when all those around her knew there was a problem.
And then all these episodes stopped when she was moved to a clerical role.
There's others in that hospital at the time who also need to be held accountable too (management wise I mean)

Yes I remember the Beverley Allitt case and that’s What I compared it to.

Just looked her up now and she is currently at Rampton, which tbh is where I beleive this person may well end up.

It’s just so sad, and an independent review must be done to ascertain why it took so long, why management felt they couldn’t do anything etc etc and we need to learn from this.

I can’t even begin to imagine what the poor families must be going through. Hopefully a full inquiry may help them through.

Sounds like some more people should be getting prosecuted for corporate manslaughter or similar.

Posters mentioning Tories and Brexit, really? 😳😳
Yeah Brexit had nothing to do with this...these things happened before that..2015-2016 these cases are from...at the moment they are looking at her career before this now

Everytime I see anything about this case I just can’t think of anything but the poor parents. My Daughter spent the first month of her life in NICU, it was awful going home and leaving her every night with hospital who pretty much strangers. The staff in the hospital my Daughter was in were fantastic, but still every night it was agony. Those parents will have had the same but also that worst fear coming true, just awful.

I hope your lovely daughter is doing well now x

“Is Lucy working tonight”?
if this is true, the people who uttered those words need to be sacked instantly
But these people did report her to management....they were ignored...to the point that some had to write apology letters to her and go through mediation to work with her again. The whistle-blowers....as always were made to be the baddies. Its the hospital management who wanted to ignore this that need to be dealt with

Obviously hearts go out to the parents and can’t imagine the suffering the little ones went through. But fair play to the jury who went through 10 months of intense detail about this, their lives are changed forever by it, and they had no reason to come to any conclusion other than the one they thought was correct.
Yeah totally. I mean some..if not all (as it was the hospital who finally, after 11 months of consultants etc reporting her) didn't even know that their babies deaths...or attempted deaths that have lead to life long conditions...knew about this until a police officer knocked on their door.....that's horrific! Most of the things that we're not allowed to know about must have been devastating for anyone to hear. I want even aware of the physical abuse allegations until today

I’ve followed this for a while, but the BBC program tonight obviously revealed a lot of what couldn’t be revealed all along and it’s horrendous. For anyone to say it was just the shift patterns and therefore Circumstantial is just disrespectful.
