Luciana Berger rejoins Labour Party

She was my MP for far too long. Utterly unfit for public service. My charity ended up having to do everything through a neighbouring MP (Stephen Twigg) because the only time Luciana could be arsed engaging with constituents was when she had a photo op

“I’m pleased to be returning to my political home,” said Berger, who left Labour to become a founding member of Change UK and campaigned and stood against the Labour party for the Liberal Democrats, just two months after she said she had “no intention” of joining the Liberal Democrats.

A tweet from JC in 2016 in response to Luciana Berger receiving anti-Semitic abuse from the far right.

Of course he did. It was never about anti-Semitism anyway. It was 100% about being anti-left wing. She was one of the leading Blairites that cares only about winning and has no interest in helping people. She, and many other Blairite MPs wanted Corbyn gone more than they wanted a Labour win. She quit as a minister to force Corbyn out when they tried to oust him after the Brexit vote and then when that didn't work they changed angle of attack to institutional anti-Semitism.

There was no doubt some anti-Semitic attacks, just like there are other racist, misogynistic attacks. It is unfortunately something that happens to MPs because a portion of society are horrific people. That is not the same as being an institutionally racist/misogynistic party. Corbyn condemned everything, he clearly goes out of his way to show he's anything but a bigot more than any other leader I've seen. Many of them say what is required of them when condemning certain things but very few of them do it sincerely like Corbyn does.

It's shameful that someone like Berger is being used as any sort of signal of progress when she is exactly the opposite.

Its good pr stroke for starmer but by all accounts she's a terrible mp so not good for her constituents

“ We will never allow you to be Prime Minister of this country” (May at PMQ’s)

Said with such venom and hatred, that I’ve never witnessed in an exchange before.
It just felt at that moment something was underway and she knew that she had enough backing from some of those sat behind Corbyn. Plus a lot more outside the HoP.
An interesting example, not for the first time, where true power lies.
