Longest Penalty Run-up?

How can you expect the keeper to remain on the line in a situation like that? He could have changed his speed at any point and it's really unfair on the keeper.
Well the keeper has to stay on the line until the ball is kicked anyway.

The penalty taker just has to continue moving forward, which they player does. There isn’t any rules about how quickly or slowly the penalty taker has to move towards the ball.

Can’t see the problem myself.

As long as there is forward momentum then it is OK. Seems quite a clever technique to me. Mind you a penalty shoot out like Boro v Liverpool from a few years ago would take a couple of days and I might revise my opinion then

When I read the thread title I was expecting to see Hickton charging in from half line!

Seems to put massive pressure on the taker to me. Imagine using that technique and missing? Didn't Zaza do something like that for Italy in a Euro shootout?

I don't have much time for takers who look for extra advantage: the deck is massively stacked in their favour anyway.

Great penalty kick. I do hope he has a while selection of them available to choose from. A hopping one. A running out then in one, perhaps a handstand one.

Once the referee has given the signal for play to restart at a dead ball situation, players are expected to take said restart within a reasonable time frame. If the referee judges they are taking too long, he is within his rights to caution them for delaying the restart of play.

For instance, if a goalkeeper were to do that at a goal kick (especially towards the end of the game) I reckon it'd be pretty much a nailed-on yellow card.

Nothing stopping it in a penalty shoot-out but the ref would probably not allow it during normal play.
He took about ten seconds to start moving after the ref blew the whistle, yellow card for timewasting right there.

Addtionally when he does his little jump at 48seconds on the video hes stationary for a second on landing with no forward momentum so if i was the ref id of dissallowed it for him being a bell end.

It might not be breaking the rules, but that's hardly very sporting is it?
I'd be embarrassed at behaviour like that if he was on my team.

(Hopefully his team lost the shoot-out ;) )

I think its blatant gamesmanship and I'd have liked to have seen the taker booked for it. There must me a way within the rules to justify it, even if the argument is say timewasting like taking ages to take a goalkick or a throw in as someabove have suggested.

Also it might be my mind playing tricks on me but I thought there was some law brought in years ago to prevent those stuttering run penalties that the likes of John Aldridge used to do. However, there's a few that seem to be doing it these days, either stopping or a little hop/jump and it seems to go unpunished but doesn't seem in be in the spirit of the game (but then neither is diving to win free kicks, exaggerating contact to get people sent off etc!).
