Long season ahead

Every season it is the same. The super ra-ras that won't hear a bad word proclaiming anyone with a differing opinion is a doom-monger or a bed wetter. I am neither but I am a realist and I'm able to analyse our deficiencies based on comparisons with previous seasons. I was correct last season when I blamed the recruitment team for not getting a squad the manager wanted and I will be correct this season if there isn't some exceptional transfer activity in the final weeks.

I'm not always right. I thought our squad was far too weak last season but Carrick proved me wrong but I couldn't predict that 30 goals in his career Akpom who wasn't even on our preseason trip would turn into a 30 goal a season striker or that our best midfielder would be a 20 year old that had a struggling season on loan in league 2. Hopefully I'm wrong this season and Coulson becomes the player I thought he would when he first broke through and the other cheap gambles all pay off.

What I do know is that in more occasions than not it is the bed wetters that are eventually proven right far more than the ra-ras. My expectation this season isn't that we sack our manager for poor results but that we do just ok and he gets an offer from a PL team that he takes because he knows as a club we are going nowhere and that is down to the lies told about how he well he will be backed in the transfer market when he's just given scraps and expected to make a Michelin starred meal out of them.
 
Probably another 40 games or so and it feels like we've only just started. Would be surprised if it's finished before mid-May at this rate.

We can't keep writing August off. Points in August are worth the same as points in May. We can go into August being a player or 2 short but not 5 or 6 short. It's just amateurish.

That's not ridiculous. There are 12 points available in August. If we are waiting until deadline day to make our signings and then needing a few games for them to get up to speed then it's not even slightly ridiculous to suggest we are not going to keep up with the top of the league with 3 or 4 first team players missing.
 
It was the retort the statement deserved……no chance of making 12 points up between the end of August and May? It wasn’t Man City and Real Madrid who were relegated.

There’s a lot of petulance going on that deserves to have a few expletives thrown its way. Some are even insinuating on some threads that MC could be on borrowed time!! Some arrogance set in in the last few games of last season when we took our foot off the gas and it bit us on the arze and some are equating that to our relegation season under Sir Gareth. I said last season what we’re missing is a Lee Tomln for teams like Millwall and Coventry…..does sweet FA for 85 mins then a few moments of close control trickery and it’s stick that in son. Not the end of our season or the end of the world just Boro.
If Silvera’s brilliant nutmeg and shot had been a few inches lower the bed wetter would still be creaming themselves now!
