London restaurants…

We’re in London next week for our 30th wedding anniversary and going to see six at the vaudeville in the Strand…

I’m looking for a restaurant that’s a little bit different to go before the show ideally 5pm and not too far away, a.though i guess anywhere in central London is fine… i don’t mind the cuisine … just trying to stay away from the chain type we usually use like prezzo 🤔

Any recommendations of places you’ve been and would always go back to?

Just had a look at the menu not cheap these places £150 for two courses for two ,thats the least expensive stuff i didn't dare look at the beer and wine, tap water please.
Wetherspoons next i need a drink.

Ok it kind of pains me to mention this one as we dont want the hoards going but is a fairly unknown place that no tourist goes to despite the Leicester Sq location. The food and drink are great and reasonable priced. Irs a quirky place too. Highly recommend

Best to book at weekends.

Get yourself to seven dials market. Freshly cooked street food, loads of choices, indoor location, craft beer and wine available and pretty well priced for central London

Love this place, looks like a lap dancing bar from the outside (intentionally, neon lights etc), but a great atmosphere and fantastic food too.

Had many a good Friday lunchtime there back in the day, although the wine bar in the basement under L'Estaminet was more frequented.

We went to Amazonico in Berkeley Square for our 20th Wedding Anniversary last year. Amazingly plush decor, live Cuban music and excellent Latin American food and drink, great experience.

Sorry to steal the thread, but I’m in London in two weekends time… my first time as a tourist.

Staying in Covent Garden, any recommendations for ‘must do’? Going to a gig on Sunday night, but wanting to make the most of the weekend.

Clos Maggiore or Oystermen are both decent and an easy walk to the Strand. Also, it’s not a restaurant but GordonsWine Bar (just off the Strand) well worth a visit!

We’re staying in tooting so a bit out of central London.. might try Kew Gardens. We’re doing a show on Thursday, shard on Friday so cramming quite a bit in in 3 days…
