London - Night Out Suggestions

Group of us are going down there for the QPR game next week, staying in the South Bank area.

Any recommendations of where to go on the night?

Preferably somewhere that's casual with a bit of an atmosphere, don't mind music in bars but we're probably all passed the age point of wanting to be in nightclubs.

Try a boardgame cafe. (y) Quite a few of them about now, good way to sample a bigger library of games than is convenient/affordable at home.

Or Bar Kick in Shoreditch. Lots of football on screens and table football to play.

I don't think there is anywhere mate. I'd just head straight home after the game.
Did someone say they are going to South Bank? ;)

Bennett's is closed now and so is Fat Cat's (The Commercial to you and me). Mark Trainor puts a good night on in the old Albion Club and there is always the St Peter's Club further up Normanby Rd.

All the decent pubs and clubs have closed now. ;)

Bermondsey Street side of London Bridge tube, Camden, Shoreditch/Hoxton, Soho. These aren't exactly groundbreaking recommendations but if you pick one of these areas and just go for a mooch I'm pretty sure you'll find a bar you will like.

Is London Bridge area any good on an evening?

I like Katzenjammers round there. Haven't been in years mind. German beer cellar, sometimes used to have an oompah band on.

There's a boardgame cafe in that area too - bad moon cafe. Its primarily a war gaming place mind so not my favourite personally.

Or Borough market has bars.

Or Francis Drakes (I think?) boat the Golden Hinde is nearby there? I think you have to book ahead to eat/drink on there though.

It's ok - Borough market is very touristy but plenty of pubs/bars and eating places. I'd head the other side of London Bridge station around Bermondsey Street.

And if your hotel is anywhere near Roupell street then have one in the kings arms - an old favourite of mine.

That's such a hard question to answer based on the scant information provided.

A west end pub crawl would probably be easiest, but then you're fighting it out with the tourists in just about every pub. However if you were to do it, then I'd stick to the more traditional pubs and do The Blue Posts, French House, Coach and Horses, Nellie Dean, The Lyric and The Toucan. It also has the advantage of not beeing to far from where you're saying.

You could also do the pubs round Borough high street and London Bridge (Market Porter, Southwark Tavern, Old Kings Head, Shipwrights Arms, The Rose (which does Parmos))

The Bermondsey Beer Mile is a good shout, although you'd need to travel a bit and it's the opposite end of the city to QPR.

Given you're at QPR, I'd be heading towards Notting Hill after the match. But I did used to live round there so I'm biased.

If you are staying near the South Bank, then head back after the game, go to London Bridge area. Although, the Bermondsey Beer mile is a great shout though. Even just the start of it in the Tower bridge area (Druid Street) and the ones to the left after you pass under the railway tunnel bridge at the end of the street.

I'm a very very very sad individual and keep a list (on google maps) of pubs/taprooms all over the country that are my favourites, and ones I want to visit next time I'm in the area. This is my London map :ROFLMAO:
