London in Tier 2, Whole of North East Tier 3

It’s not based on the size of the city. It’s based on the infection and transmission rate. Presumably London is looking better than the NE for this.

360 in Havering v 161 Northumberland.

They're taking a wrecking ball to the economy of every built up area in England except London, during December of all months.

Can we all agree now that this is almost entirely about politics now, not science?

it's not about having chips on shoulders, so drop your antagonism and try not to be a helmet, it's a legitimate questioning of the rationale behind the decision for the Tier-ing system

Which I explained how it might be calculated.
It’s not antagonism. If you know me by now I’ll always rally against “north v south” or “rich v poor” lazy stereotypes.
As soon as I saw the title of the thread I just knew for a fact it’d be full of Teeside chips going “blummin London” it’s a provincial attitude that holds our region back

Mass testing must have worked, one benefit of this is the north east should actually have access to this now. Has to be the most effective way to keep cases down

Or the government want to claim mass testing works.

Well yeah, maybe thats because deep down you can actually see why it looks so absurd to the rest of the nation?

I can completely get why Cornwall and North Yorkshire are in tier 2. But if you're locking down the major cities over Christmas, not locking down THE major city is always going to raise major eyebrows I'm afraid. So its nothing to do with 'chips on shoulders'. I used to live in London myself and I don't live in Teesside, as do many others questioning it.

Again it depends on cars and transmission rate surely? Or maybe there is something immunity? London had it the worst first time around

Indeed, so why doesn't London do its bit and lock down again, like we all had to while Londoners were busy spreading it round in February?

Cases aren't exactly low there!

There's actually not much difference between Tier 2 and 3. Tier 2 has been toughened up.
