Local recommendations

It's been a while... Almost 4 years I think... But finally the time has come to make what should have been a bi-yearly 2000km xmas trip back home.

Obviously a lot can change in 4 years, especially with all that's been going on, but I was hoping to get some recommendations for places to eat and/drink around town over xmas (y)

Cheers!

The Chairman at Bedford Street is a nice cosy place to eat and the food is generally good. For a cheapo breakfast on Match day the Isaac Wilson takes a bit of beating, followed by a brisk stroll down to the Navigation for pre-match drinks. Enjoy your visit!

If parmos are your thing, The Prickly Pear Bistro in Berwick Hills (stick with this) is really good .It’s an offshoot of the Ship at Redmarshall. Excellent food but it’s pricey. About £18 a medium parmo, which is huge!! They also do small but it’s not listed on the menu.

wasnt expecting many berwick hills tips, but thanks!😅

If you are looking for a Parmo on your return, I think the best I have had recently was at Olivellos in Linthorpe Village..and then afterwards you can brave the Clevo over the road 😉. If you are looking for more civilized drinking establishments, as mentioned above, Bedford and Baker Street are your best bet.

If there are cocktail drinkers in your party then the Nuthatch is definitely worth a visit. We've been visiting some of Britain's top 50 cocktail bars (Mrs Beetroot's choice not mine) and it's a travesty that they're not in the list.
Nearby The Chairman and The Bottled Note are also worth a visit.
