Local lockdown

As with everything else the rules make absolutely zero sense, you cant see a family member sitting 2+meters apart in a garden, but you can all cram inside a pub or restaurant? Oh and by the way get back into the office with hundreds of other people and sit on a crowded bus or train to get there.

Get tested if you come into contact with anyone who has had it, but all you idiots getting too many tests have caused the system to crash so now no one can get a test

Here is £20 quid, go and have a meal out in a room with a load of strangers, but be back home by 10 though because thats when Covid starts

Nobody should be cramming into pubs. There are limitations that were put in place to allow them to open safely. I know that hasn’t been strictly followed. Same with restaurants. bus seats are meant to be spaced out. Workplaces are meant to follow guidelines.

So they’ve locked down ALL of Northumberland. geographically a massive area. I would bet my house the problem is in the slums of Newcastle and Blythe and that the beautiful little spread out villages, that constitute most of it have virtually none, yet everyone suffers. Similar for County Durham.

Just shows the government has no concept of even the basic geography of the NE. Or are we being used as an experiment, Chris Whitty’s lab rats.
You're right in that Northumberland has a relatively low case rate. But I understand it was Northumberland council who requested lockdown measures.

In a small, busy pub being 2 meters away from someone for a decent length of time will do nothing to stop the spread. Same with busses and trains.

I think the concern in Northumberland is that while the numbers are lower than anywhere else in the region, the rate at which it is spreading is amongst the highest so if nothing is done here, the County would be overwhelmed in a week or two.

But not applied to Hartlepool, Stockton, Boro. Not sure that makes sense.

The weekend football fixtures across the north are still going ahead so far as I'm aware. It's FA Vase weekend besides the usual Northern League fixtures. Bumper crowds?

haha kicking out of pubs one hour early will make no difference what so ever to those who do go out.

They`ll just cram as much in to that last hour like they do now, only an hour earlier.

I`ll carry on doing what I`v been doing since March....working from home, staying safe and only going out for essentials and walking the dog/exercise.......I will not be fooled by a Governement who are willing to throw people under a bus and then blame those people for the continuing spread of the virus

You can only think that lunatics are running the Asylum.
You just noticed?

I think the only thing left to do is look to yourself and your own. Stay out of public areas, no pubs, restaurants or cinemas. Go to work as safely as you can, be scrupulous in your hygiene and reduce to an absolute minimum any social contact, so no visits to friends or relations for a few weeks.

That's my take. I feel for people that are being forced to risk their own and their families health in order to keep themselves from financial ruin.

I've just had a letter shoved through my door from our local council ( South Tyneside) which finishes with the words " it's still not to late to avoid a local lockdown". Not sure what's going to change in the next eight hours!

Amused to discover

It is illegal for seven children to feed the ducks in Ropner Park, it is legal for thirty men to shoot them (perhaps not in Ropner Park though?)

I've tired of most of the RWNJ trolls and "ignored" them has anyone tried to defend them today? Actually don't tell me unless you are a RWNJ and then I can add you to my "ignore" party.

Ta.
