Local elections TODAY

Was looking through the candidates for various Middlesbrough seats last night and was shocked to see that Shamal Biswas is now a Conservative!!
Labour Councillor for years and jumps ship to the Tories.
Really can't get my head around someone doing this, especially with the current bunch of cvnts ruining the country.
Maybe he wasn't really Labour at heart in the first place and just seen it as a way of being elected?
It's because he wasn't selected as a Labour candidate this time, so he jumped ship, Tories don't select- they just have anyone who will stand wearing a blue rosette.

Billingham North polling station.

Walked in with my driving license. Had a pen and polling sheet in my hand within 30 seconds.

Green Party candidate ✅

I'm going to vote shortly. There's two polling stations within the same distance from me but for different wards.... And I went to the wrong one earlier today. I hope we have a new mayor and will be voting for the Labour candidates in the councillor and mayor elections.

Good luck to all the FTTM posters standing.

Our new prospective Labour councillor was doing a bit of canvassing a few weeks back. Knocked on our door. Started the speech about "will you be voting Labour...." Stopped her mid speech and said "yes, I'll be voting for the Labour councillors as they do a good job. I'll vote for Mr Mishra in the GE as he also does a good job for his constituents. But these votes are not backing Starmer, as I don't trust him and believe him to be a devious two faced wan......" Stopped myself and she laughed and said "Yes, totally agree with you". Got my vote tonight👍

Vote Labour

After years of suffering we need change and this is the first step to change.

Fuel price is up, food prices are up, gas and electricity prices are up, basic essentials costs more than ever, more food banks than ever, more people sleeping rough on the streets than ever, more strikes than I can remember during my time because people arent paid a fair wage, people had to choose between food or warmth during this winter and this current government couldnt care less.

The Prime Minister is in power as a yes man and to line his missus’s pockets, frig the rest.

There’s only one party that can realistically throw the Tories out at the next general election and thats Labour.

Vote Labour vote for change

Is there not an exit poll for these elections?
I don't think that would be possible. Too many local variables for it to be accurate.

I wonder how the voter ID has affected the turnout. Considering how low local elections usually are, and how important it is to get more engagement in them, it's borderline criminal for any government to bring in these laws at a local level. The first thing any future non-Tory government needs to do is overturn them.
