Its because he works for the BBC, who the 'gammonati' have it in for anyway.

This is true. But it does highlight it's jsut an attack on people and not ideas. It woudl be VERY difficult for the hard right to attack the former head of the armed forces, given their obsession with WW II. So the Mail needs to deflect form the fact he signed the petition and get people focusing on someone they've conditioned them to hate anyway.

Yeah there is quite a hypocrisy there isn't there? Especially from people who claim to be advocates of free speech.

Also, it's fundamentally not understanding what a democracy is to want to suppress the views of a voter.

The government seems keen on passing laws that eliminate inconvenient realities. Perhaps they could legislate against Lineker. Should appease the Foaming Mouth Research Group or whatever they call themselves these days.

It shouldn’t take someone like Linekar to highlight how ridiculous it is sending asylum seekers to Rwanda.

The policy is a subterfuge. Get people angry about something so they don’t think how bad the government is. Sadly, there will be many who start believing the lie.

How many times have they tried and failed to go after Lineker? He is simply far too clever for any of them to try and have a go… not that it takes much to be fair.
