Life.

I love football. Loved playing football- not that I was any good, but that image of the six weeks holiday, getting up and running outside with a ball and playing nonstop (other than being shouted in to eat something) until it was dark, day after day, was my childhood really.

I just don’t identify with the players or, even less, with the fans.

The anger and mob mentality, it’s not for me.
We played on the Attlee Rd School (Caedmon Primary School) fields from morning until night and when it got dark we would then move and make the goal under a street light that was near the school field.

We would get a brand new pair of baseball boots and a pair of Bobby washable jeans and a couple of T-shirts and that was our clothing for the six weeks. There were five of us, two boys, and how our mum got them clean and dry again for the next day was a miracle.

I remember I had the England kit which was a white thick cotton shirt with a three lions badge, blue shorts and white socks. I had the number seven sewn on the back by my mum, which caused me to look like Quasi Modo. 🤣 🤣 🤣 She honestly couldn't sew a button.

Do you know what...yeah it is sometimes. But you have to try and find the positives when times are cr@p because the they do outweigh the sh!te...they really do. And (as I know to well this last 2 months) there are plenty of people on here who care and are eager to help you through the rough, you just need to talk xx

If you like reading AET, I recommend you give Happy by Derren Brown the time. It’ll be well worth it. Some excellent insights into how we think. That book introduced me to the stoic philosophy too. That is worth it alone.

I know I don’t post that often but I’d noticed you’d not been around recently, aet. Is there any chance you could make it up for the Blackburn game cos the coffee boys (and girl ) would love to see you if you were? If not, we will have a cuppa for you and send out as much positivity as we can to you.

I had my 1st breakdown 4 years ago this week. That was a dark dark day and thought I would be fixed by now. I still struggle like you do, but keep on talking it does help. Just don't do anything stupid. Because people really care. Just be kind to you and be kind to the people around you. Would be brilliant if you could make it to a coffee one day.
