Letting Morsy go reminds me of Butterfield deal

it's interesting that there's so many divided views on Morsy -- especially when we've only really seen him on TV, which is hardly the way to judge a player you might say. However, when you look at his discipline record it doesn't good reading, although you could say that's what he's there for.

I'm not too disheartened that Morsy has gone..
He was always a bit too gung ho in my opinion and every time he went in to a challenge I feared a yellow card.

I know he wears his heart on his sleeve, but I think he was a liability.. And the sending off on Saturday, although a little harsh may have just about made Warnock's mind up..

That said, I wish him all the best

He’s dropped down a division and that speaks volumes. Loved his attitude on the pitch (obviously no idea what he’s like off it) but you need better quality than him to get promoted.

Anyone worked out how many points we got with him playing and how many we get when he doesn't play?

He did commit fouls so did Billly Bremner that was part of their job.

Nope - That 'Boro side that Karanka put together 2nd half of that season with Graham up front was full of goals & Butterfield was a massive part of that....

Went for £5m after that aswell....

Injuries did for his career sadly....
Not really. He was grifting a living in Australia with Melbourne Victory before they realised he was taking the p1ss and dumped him recently.

Morsy stats last season.

87 fouls out of 142 tackles.
12 yellows in 29 games.

Absolute charlatan.

Butterfield always put me in mind of Brian Clough's comment about Trevor Brooking ... "Floats like a butterfly, stings like a butterfly" 😊 Butterfield was a tidy player but he didn't 'hurt' teams.

His strength was breaking up a game and slowing it down. That worked well when we were ahead but his limitations were shown when we had to come from behind.
