letter from simon clarke today

The Gazette manages to make it more like a tory party political broadcast than criticism for wasting thousands of pounds of taxpayers money.
Was going to say unbelievable but actually it is totally believable of what our local propaganda rag has become

It is blatantly both campaigning and electioneering. We are in the run up to a mayoral election and they're basically parroting Houchen's spiel.

Shame it starts off with an inaccuracy as well; the Freeport was announced in March.

I presume you'll get called a Tory Shill now..... or a Lib Dem one for pointing out exactly what I said.
I'm a lib dem voter traditionally, but i'm voting for Chris McEwan because I want to see the back of BenT.

These letters ARE desperate though, the Conservative party is dead goose around Houchen's neck which is why he's so desperately trying to distance himself from Westminster (despite visiting recently to vote the same way as the Tory whip....funny that!)

Technically not against the rules but skirting very close to what is and isn't acceptable

See the lodger's post. That's just one blokes opinion. The lodger's opinion is that it does break the rules. Its ultimately for the parliamentary authorities to decide.

They'd be pretty weak rules however if theres a loophole that allows you to do party political campaigning as long as you don't explicitly state its that. Almost worthless you might say?

I mean everyone knows that's exactly what this is. Even Geoff B has admitted that's exactly what they're doing.

So if everyone knows that's what they're doing and the rules say you can't do it, then its a breach of the rules surely? But I suppose there might be enough doubt as to their intention they get away with it.

One thing the last 10 years has told me, is that parliamentary rules are no longer fit for purpose. MPs used to largely stick to the rules, they’re now broken with impunity
It's not even that. Even if they were breaking the rules, there'd just be a shrug of the shoulders and carry on as before.

We received our letter from Simon Clarke on Thursday last week ( promptly put in the bin ) and just to prove how incompetent they are,I have just returned home from work and guess what is on the mat?? The exact same letter from our friend Mr. Clarke on House of Commons letter headed paper and envelope.

They cant even get simple administrative tasks correct…do I need to opt out of this junk mail??

bull**** letter from Simon Clarke today containing lots of lies.
Letter on House of Commons notepaper and in a House of Commons envelope and no doubt "post" paid for by House of Commons as well.
So basically I/we (taxpayers) are paying for the letter.
Do all candidates standing in the election get this option or is it just the standing Tory.
72,000 people in my constituency, so say approx 36,000 households, are they all getting this letter.
That is a lot of money paid for by you and me, the taxpayer.
That is just Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland constituency.
Is it nationwide?to add insult to
