Let’s talk Bellingham performance

I think he’s fine. They both have the freedom to go where they want and the box midfield is helping us get more possession.
True, about possession but it impacts his ability to really run the game from his favoured position….
He’s our new Gazza and is capable of doing anything in the final….absolutely anything…which in and of itself, frightens the Spanish

He was great first half last night and worked hard in the second half. He is also as already proved capable of a moment which is why he stays on over Foden for example.

An exceptional player and showing glimpses but like a lot of the top players, looking somewhat fatigued which after the season he has had at his age is understandable.

I think it would benefit him to get rid of the Real Madrid swagger and put some graft in, you can’t coast through matches no matter how good you are.
I'm haven't warmed to him as a person if i'm honest. Mostly due to his body language on the pitch. There's a lot of gesticulating at other players when something he does doesn't work, that kind of thing. He's clearly an immensely talented player that's played his part in helping England to where they are but i'd say there's a lot more to come from him as it stands.

I think that playing Watkins will free up Bellingham and Foden. They have been playing around a very static Harry Kane. Every time you see decent build up in play with Foden picking the ball up and doing 1-2s with Bellingham...both with good movement and then Kane is just stood there or in positions where he can't take the ball. I hope Kane isn't used just to break his own personal records like Rooney and Beckham were at the detriment of the rest of the team.

Bellingham has been one of the best players in Germany and has just been named the best player in Spain, yet you think it’s not as good as others think.

The evidence shows the lad is outstanding. Even at the end of the season, not quite 100% fit, he is still making moments for England, and standing up to be counted.
I think you are taking what I’ve said the wrong way, you’re implying that I think he’s rubbish. I’ve talked at length about how the Spanish league is at the lowest level it’s been in a couple of decades, yet Real Madrid strengthen every year while the other sides get weaker, the gap is growing each year.

That’s why I say he’s not as good as people think, not because I don’t rate him, he’s an excellent player but his reputation is enhanced by playing for RM.

Agree about Germany but he was deployed in a different role there, he wasn’t a goalscorer. Nobody really expected him to be playing 10 for R Madrid before this season started so I think that’s part of the problem (if we can really call it a problem!) with England, people expect goals and his attributes are stronger in other positions.

Was very good first half last night, finding pockets of space and his close control/strength were superb. Maybe guilty of not releasing it quicker sometimes. Struggled 2nd half but they all did. It's very difficult to take him off when you know he can produce something from nowehere.

Totally agree with that part. Him playing 10 at Real Madrid definitely influenced Southgate. I doubt the formation would have changed from 4-3-3 if Bellingham was playing 8 in Madrid like he did for Dortmund.

I thought for the first time him and Foden could work together in a team last night. Would love to see Watkins and Shaw playing in that formation for 45 minutes to see how much more the middle opens up. Difficult to drop Kane though equally.

Which day is convenient?
At least one where we haven't just reached our first final on foreign soil and enjoyed one of the greatest nights watching footie. I just don't get the clamour for negativity all the time even at such a joyous moment. People just always looking for something to be negative about. Genuinely think that even if we win it there will be a good proportion of people struggling to enjoy it simply because of their pre-existing views on Southgate.

Anyway not looking for an argument. Feeling too positive for that ;)

Absolutely this.

Just enjoy it, because it might not happen again for a long, long time.

I don't feel negative, woke up feeling amazing this morning but also this sense of what is ahead and knowing that Spain are far superior to Netherlands. We may have to make changes or tweaks if we are going to win, maybe drop some players as we were a different team when the substitutions were made.

If players are not performing, not fully fit, carrying an injury, should we be trying to carry them in a final because of reputations?

Is that being negative?

This thread isn’t a clamour for negativity mate, it’s discussing a player who’s an integral part of out tournament.
I don’t really want any of my posts to be taken as negativity especially towards a single player, I want them all to do well and hope Jude scores the winner in the final.
