If we make an 8-10m profit on every forward we sign, we will soon be a well run club going places.
 
Money in football these days is just guessing. It’s like, I’m going for a load of bread, it is expected I will pay £1.50 plus the add-on of a chocolate bar.
 
I might even take an interest in Ajax now. I presume our old hero Heini Otto is no longer youth coach there is he? Second thoughts he’d be pushing 70, so probs not 😂

If he goes to the premiership and does well there, another premiership club will take him if sheff Utd are relegated . Even if they don’t , he’s in the championship with potentially a lot more money than before . So sheff Utd would still have been a very good option
 
That some move and contract length for Chuba.

If he starts well at Ajax, his national side will soon come calling.

I've had a winge about the estimated fee, but the club has done well to come out of this with over 8 figures.
 
We can't afford £50k/week in the Championship. That money was wasted on Britt and Fletcher.

Lens v Ajax

Lens are in a bigger league and are a sort of Newcastle of France. (ex mining region strong loud regional support)

Ajax has the glamour and are the biggest club in Holland, but the league is not particularly strong, most Dutch internationals leave the country.

Not sure what the Champions League position is - are they both in the qualifiers?
 
If we're accepting 11m euros or there abouts. Despite his contract situation I think that's pretty **** tbh. 15m euros or F off. Of course all of these fees are just guesstimate as nobody outside the 2 clubs involved has any idea .
 
The thing that stands out to me is the length of that contract and I thought previously the length of the contact could have been the issue preventing us coming to a deal.

Even if we could match the wages, we couldn't commit to a contract that long. If he bombed we'd be stuck back in the situation we were with Assombalonga & co., unaffordable players we couldn't shift of the books, it held the club back for several seasons.

Sad to see him go and I'd have liked a couple of million more in the bank, but probably good business all round for us, Chuba and Ajax.

I think you are being disrespectful to Ajax there, they have been European Champs more times than even Man U.
