Lenihan sounds like a worry

With a pain in his foot and a protective boot on 🙈
Tough run of games and ‘quiet as a mouse’ zero leadership qualities; McNair obviously primed to take his place…at centre back.
No real choice I suppose but a lenihan out for 4-6 weeks could very much derail us….

We need 4 CBs, McNair is sch!te...I'd be looking to sign another to compete with Fry, Lenihan, and Clarke to be honest.

Probably need to shift McNair first though. Might be easier said than done on his wages unless a prem club bites.

If anyone get his head back on it it'll be Carrick you'd think. Does feel like there's a mental problem, although in his defence he's not played for a while, everyone looked ropey under Wilder and Brighton is hardly a fair game to judge him on.

Otherwise anyone in the u23s looking promising I wonder? Can't say I've heard of any centre backs looking ready to break through but doesn't mean there aren't any.

Stoke have been perpetually linked with him, and Souttar is linked with a prem move, could work out well for all if he is a replacement

U21/23 CBs are Cain Sykes, Jack Hannah, Lucas Reed, Andy Nelson, Josh Wells and Tristan Francois-Vernal are the older lads (20). We also have Frankie Whelan, Ben Beals, Afonso Lindo and I think Bryant Bilongo has played left CB in a 3 at times as well as LWB.

The U21s let in 17 goals in their last 3 games, and had 1 cleansheet in 10 games, so not sure any are exactly knocking on the first team door

Probably not then!

Maybe we should be looking at the top young CBs in League One as squad players here? Eiran Cashin (Derby) and Caleb Taylor (Cheltenham) are the two I'd be looking at

Caleb Taylor? He’s not played has he? He’s on loan to them from WBA

Matt Clarke still hasn’t managed to get onto the bench yet so I’m not holding any thoughts he’ll be back before April.

Carrick said Lenni just has the boot on as a precaution but it doesn’t sound good. Even before Lenni’s injury I was hoping that we’d bring in another defender who can also add some height. As for Paddy, I don’t see him really wanting to stay.
