Lenihan sounds like a worry

I think Dijksteel could come in and do a job at CB if needed, he has played there before and is athletic and quick

I like the look of Eiran Cashin at 6’0
Ronnie Edwards from Peterborough is 5’11 and attracting attention from premier league clubs..
Small centre halves are a current fad , Lisandro Martinez the stand out at only 1.75m , and yes , he is good , but in general most would get bullied in the air by big lads .
I am all for good footballers in all positions, but the championship is brutal and a big , hard , solid CH wins my vote . ( who can play )

Bigger is better when it comes to defenders looking at the obvious advantages height can bring. Big fan of Matt Crooks, Sander Berge and Philip Billing in midfield too..

Have people on here forgot how bad a defender Clarke is with his run in the team under wilder & after yesterday there will be a big clearout & i hope he is one of them.
Clarke was trying to play with a major back injury so his performances were never going to be great. Player of the season at 3 clubs tells its own story for me.
Give the lad a chance and judge him on an injury free run in the team.

Scott mckenna from Forest would be a good addition and would be a like for like replacement for Lenihan, sat on the bench right now and possibly available if they are looking to reduce their gargantuan wage bill

Caleb Taylor? He’s not played has he? He’s on loan to them from WBA
He's played 23 times this season. West Brom would obviously want a decent fee, but they're a bit of a financial basket case so might go for it rather than lose a first teamer.

I'd be worried if he was out for the season.

Him and Fry have created a great partnership.

Yes, we've not had many clean sheets, but what Lenihan does bring is very very good passing ability from out the back. He's the best CB we have at distributing the ball.

Still not convinced on McNair at CB and I've not seen Clarke at CB so if Lenihan is out for a lengthy spell, then I would definitely be looking this month at bringing in a replacement. Even if it's only temporary.

I remember when Clarke played too.
Perhaps we may in this transfer period be looking for a replacement.

Cashin is too small at 1.84m IMO , Caleb Taylor is on loan from WBA so doubt they would sell him .
plenty of good CBs at that height over the years, from absolute legends like Cannavaro, Puyol and Baresi, to good steady pros like Nathan Ake, Callum Chambers, Ezri Konza, Ben Mee, and even back in teh 90s we had people like Steve Bruce, Terry Fenwick, Gary Mabbutt, Chris Perry.

The game is littered with great to good CBs 6 foot and under. Everyone I've mentioned is shorter than Cashin.

Bigger is better when it comes to defenders
Better is better. Defending is more about reading the game than any other trait. If you are 6 foot 6 but you can't read the game as well as someone who is 5' 11" then you won't be a better defender.

Particularly in this day where the game is far more tactical and defenders are expected to be able to play football not just head the ball and 'compete'.

We already have 6 foot 4 Dael Fry, so we shouldn't rule out a backup CB simply because he's only 6 foot.

Clarke looked poor after a promising debut but it is also possible he was being asked to do too much in the Wilder formation. This also made Fry and Lenihan look poor. Perhaps him coming back in to the side as an out-and-out centre back, where he has done well elsewhere, will see him look more at home.

Bola has picked up another knock after just coming back from injury it seems, and Dijksteel was out for 'a few weeks' about a week ago. If McNair is being allowed to talk to other clubs we must have someone coming in you'd think?

As has been mentioned, Clarke has been out since late September early October hasn't he? He's still to make the bench when we have no other natural centre half on there, which suggests he may not be that close to a return in the starting line up.

I assume it was how madly open we were and him being new to 'Wilderball', possibly coupled with a back injury he was carrying as he wanted to play? He has been a solid pro and highly regarded by fans everywhere else he has played. Hopefully he'll settle in and form a decent partnership with Fry while we wait for reinforcements or injured players to return.

Wonder how fit/ what Phil Jones is up to?
