Lenihan & McGree

Can’t work these two out. I thought both of them had good games v Stoke but I’m not convinced either of them should be in our starting 11 due to previous performances. Thoughts?

I think Lenihan will do more good than bad, but he needs someone behind him to get out of jail. He should play right in a 3. McGree good squad player, not sure he will be first choice when we get our next midfielder in.

Mcgree definitely 'found his position' last night. He looked far better as a No10 with little or no defensive responsibilities.

I actually think it's a position Wilder has earmarked him in for a while.

I'm not hammering Lenihan. He's been an absolute rock at Blackburn for years. You don't just become sh*t overnight. We are probably far more expansive than Blackburn and he's settling into a new back 3 with fullbacks who pretty much don't defend. I have no doubt he will come good.

The team as a whole looks decent. I'd say even the bench. Just need a bit of luck at the mo. I don't see to much wrong.

McGree did well. Missed an easy chance of course. But was buzzing around and dropping into midfield which caused Stoke no end of trouble.

Copy paste from every other thread: Cant believe we didn't win that game.

I am not sure that Lenihan is an improvement on who we already had in the team.

Lenihan has barely ever played in a back 3, he will probably need to get used to the role, it is different in many ways to an othdox centre back in a back 4, positionally you have to adopt different positions on the field

Both of them have been at the club for no time at all. I like what I see. A mixed start I’ll give u that but I see big potential. Future Boro legend status ? They aren’t loaners so why not

He was in a back 3 for the second half of last season with Blackburn - over 20 games - but I agree, he's much more suited to 4 at the back.

Give both a chance. McGree (and our team as a whole) may have been needing us to play him where he played last night and thrived. How many starts has he had in the league now?

Lenihan's getting used to new team mates and a new style.

Too many want them up and running straight away. How long did it take McNair to find a position he was half decent, for Tav to show any consistency, for Fry to compete?
