I’m only ever on the fringes of reggae and dub (if that) so not hugely familiar with his works, but he produced the Clash’s Complete Control. So a total dude.

I'm a massive fan of his, he is a musical icon. Genuinely gutted by this news, I had tickets to see him next month (rescheduled due to Covid).

Sad news. Saw him in NZ s few years ago, crazy, unique genius and a genuine legend.
That means a night of some serious dub when I get home from work tonight.

Bought the Super Ape album back in the 70s because John Peel was playing a lot of Perry and raving on. Some great tracks on that album and the sound is like nothing else. A revelation at the time. At 85 its time to celebrate a life and not mourn a passing. I hope he he passed on a lot of his skills to someone else. He was truly a one off.
