Charlton Athletic's revenue in the year to June 2019 (the last pre Covid impact) was £7.8m.
Portsmouth was £11.6m
Barnsley got promoted on £7.8m.
Sunderland was £58m but in their last year of PP which were £40m. They still lost £10.6m before tax.
If we go down, our turnover will fall dramatically. Our crowd will drop significantly, unless we are promotion certainties, which we won't necessarily be. Derby, Sheff Wed, Pompey, Bolton, Ipswich, Plymouth, Barnsley will all have a say, plus whoever went down with us.
We will find it harder to attract talent.
Squad market value will fall.
Outstanding contracts will weigh heavier on reduced turnover.
Operational Costs will weigh heavier.
Going to places like Burton, Morecambe, FGR, Accrington, Cheltenham and Fleetwood will be rubbish other than for those on ground collection.
A midweek home fixture against Exeter City or Shrewsbury Town anyone?
The profile of the club will decline, kids will be further drawn away.
So, on balance, I'd say relegation would be a F***ing disaster.
